Well, the worst one is when it gets stuck updating. Apparently that bug has existed for years. When it happens, you can't play any of your games even in single player, you can't switch to offline mode because you can't login, unplugging the network cable doesn't fix it, restarting in safe mode doesn't fix it, disabling anti-virus/firewall doesn't fix it. Worst of all, even completely reinstalling Steam doesn't work because the installer doesn't come fully updated.
Ultimately I figured out it was some incompatibility with my Anti-virus software. But it just pissed me off because none of the fixes in the Steam forums worked. And it could so easily be avoided by just having an offline mode that you don't have to SIGN IN ONLINE to activate.

I'd rather they not do a Homeworld 3, and have had that opinion since playing Homeworld 2. They came up with this detailed history, built a game around it (Homeworld 1), then basically rewrote the whole thing for part 2, and even seemed to take the ingame technology (meaning technology available to the units, not game engine) back a bit from the first game. Then they make the whole game a race (and yeah, I know that fit the theme of the game, you're under a sneak attack and on the run), that for me sucked a lot of the fun out of it. I preferred Homeworld: Cataclysm to Homeworld 2, even with it's cheesy Borg ripoff of a story. |

Good to hear. I've enjoyed Steam. Always thought the layered DRM was stupid. Tracking all my gaming account logons is becoming more like being in the office. I can appreciate removing another layer of bullshit. |

| Personally, Steam has caused me far more headaches than GFWL ever has. But it's a shame the publisher feels it has to include one poison or the other. It's not like either one really deters pirates. Though they do sometimes manage to deter paying customers. |

| Before you even respond, remember there is no reason for this game to use gfwl, it doesnt require matchmaking etc.... so yes this is not really a suprise. |

GFWL is one of the many reasons that the FPS Section 8 failed (the game was also a steaming pile of suck). The lack of server control/modding/proper administrative control/update issues is something I witnessed first hand and thought "why in the hell would a dev use this terrible tech".. Good to see that the fellas at THQ learned a lesson. |

If Relic whittled their scope down any more, as seems to be their theme with each successive game, you'd control the food replicators of one ship. |

Whilst I'm happy they're not using GFWL, I'm not really pleased with them doing Steam either. Just give me a figin activation code I need to do online and that's it, please and thank you. |

Guess it was inevitable, but still... Boo! Hey, at least he's being honest. Most developers say "We have no lead platform because we're focusing on all three platforms equally... even though we always demo the game on 360 and all the screenshots and trailers and previews are from the 360 version. But 360 isn't the lead platform, nosiree." |

| Thank goodness, the GfWL in the other W40k games is so freaking annoying. Constant problems with it, hard to update, it requires tons of restarts, and even freezes. It turned me off from playing it after an initial few hours. |

| I always thought it was strange that Dawn of War II required BOTH Steam and Windows Live. I'm glad they went with Steam, and I'd love to see them release a patch for DoW2 to remove the GFWL part of it and only require Steam, but something tells me that would never happen. |
