| The deadspin rant misses the mark. The man likes attention, likes being a celebrity. So what -- so do hundreds (thousands?) of others. They are criticizing the wrong people. The people deserving of the scorn are the people who will sit there and watch an hour of TV which will likely have a high concentration of commercials to find out where Lebron James will make millions of dollars a year. Now, if I had a chance to GET some of the millions in my bank account, that might be different. But probably not... Lebron James is what those people watching the TV show tonight made him. |

Blue, with my new glasses the "light blue" headlines look 3D!
I've never had to wear glasses before, but now that I'm over 41 reading text has become frustrating. I find myself enlarging the font on certain sites within my browser. I bought some cheap glasses at the drugstore and now the Headlines look 3D. |

Come on, an hour long? It takes 15 seconds to say I’ve decided to stay in Cleveland but we’ve got another 59 minutes and 45 seconds to, what? Promote LeBron James? The deadspin rant was pretty good, but missed the opportunity to point out that the idea to hold a show like that wasn't Team LeBron's.
If he does end up in Miami as some people are suggesting now, I wonder how the rest of the lineup and bench will look if the salary gets eaten up by the three stars' paycheck. Iirc they currently have 4 people under contract, and that's already counting Wade and Bosh. |

Agreed. Every now and then I'll turn one on to see if maybe the quality (or my tastes) have changed.
I saw maybe the last 2 episodes of the first season of Survivor just to see what the big deal was. Was not impressed.
I saw 2-3 episodes of a short-lived one called Cannonball Run, loosely based off the premise from the films. A car "race" across America, with check points and contents to get out the front gate early or a better car. It was alright, but not great.
I saw 1 episode of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here." It was funny, but dumb.
I have to admit, I watched a little bit of the Apprentice... maybe 3/4 of one of the seasons a few years back. It was actually interesting, but only to a degree.
Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. I'm sure the networks love it, they make a gazillion dollars and they don't have to pay much for actors / scripts / sets / etc.
But I fail to see the attraction. It boggles the mind how a high quality TV show gets axed after 0.5 to 1 season, meanwhile some of these reality shows get huge ratings and last for years. |

Personally, I couldn't care less. What the NBA plays doesn't qualify as basketball in my book. Basketball is supposed to be a non-contact sport. As far as Mr. James is concerned, "whatever." It seems stupid to me to have a one hour special, but what do I know? I think all the reality TV shows are stupid. I've probably seen 15 minutes total (at most) of Survivor. I remember the big advertising push.
I remember drinking it a couple of times.
And I remember a lot people saying it was fiasco.
But oddly enough, I don't remember if I enjoyed it. I enjoy Sprit and Slice, if that means anything. I just can't remember a darn about the actual drink: its taste or if I liked it. |

The same was said about Michael Jordan, but of course, MJ didn't have a one ring disadvantage at the start. Stan van Gundy had some interesting comments about this whole free agency madness and its finale. And just in time, someone reappears to give a Darth Vader impression.
With the time difference, I'll know what happened when I wake up. Glad it's over, it got built up a bit much during the last season and especially at its end. Bringing it up during the finals was one of the low points. That said, the next season should get interesting, looking forward to actual games restarting. |

I know the inside info is saying that LeBron is going to Miami but it doesn't really make sense to me. Even though it might be unfair and unrealistic, winning championships there would be expected and anything less would be a failure. Winning would be more of a relief than anything. It's like when the Yankees win, everybody says, "well sure, of course they're going to win - they bought all the best players". Winning in Cleveland would be legendary. Winning in New York is always huge and I believe Chicago would actually be the most unstoppable team with the addition of LeBron.
Plus there's LeBron's legacy; if he plays with Wade he'll always be one ring behind, not to mention that many people will say he couldn't win until he hooked up with Wade (and Bosh).
If it were me (and wouldn't that be nice) it would be between Cleveland and Chicago, with New York and New Jersey coming in next.
