More on MS and PC Gaming

PC Gamer analyzes some Windows 8 presentation slides discovered by Engadget that seem to support recent indications that Microsoft is gearing up to recommit to PC gaming. The slides show plans for an integrated game marketplace, though most of what's depicted shows a casual bent. Thanks joao.

Recommit to PC gaming to MS means "Create an integrated market place so we can skim money off micro transactions."

Cheer for joy, PC gamers.

Yay, more games as a service crap I will attempt strongly to avoid.

Also: casual gaming is not what I wanted MS to recommit to. They already are fully committed to that. I want new, hardcore AAA PC games.

When will M$ learn that they cannot do an integrated market on an open platform? GfW-L was an absolute disaster because they tried to implement a console gaming service onto the PC, apparently not realizing they could not control the PC game market and that unlike the complete control over their console, they had to actually compete if they intended to win.. and they had lost the war before they even fought the battle.

If that means a new "improved" version of GFWL, they can go to hell.

I don't know, Windows 7 is pretty awesome But yeah they haven't really done much for PC gaming lately except all of those free GFWL games due to that shared key shenanigans.

Does this mean that MS will start designing games for the PC again? Or will we just get 360 ports?

I think their PR & Marketing department thinks that they work at a different company.

Like their strategy for everything else, I'm betting it revolves around looking at the competition and saying "me too! me too!".

Ugh. Of all the companies to re-commit themselves to PC gaming, it had to be Microsoft??

I'll pass.
