Out of the Blue

This Wimbledon Match is crazy, huh? I'm not generally a tennis watcher, but they started showing this after yesterday's World Cup game (not that I'm generally a soccer watcher either), and that's just nuts. I have a perverse fascination with the fact that a baseball game can theoretically go on forever, but never thought that much about how tennis shares that trait. Just wild stuff.

John Isner the big lanky American tennis player involved in that long drawn out match won our Heineken tennnis open, his first ATP tour title at the start of this year.
By the finals he was the complete crowd favorite, the whole country was rooting for him, we would have adopted him.
Real gentleman.
Im sure hes receiving well wishes from his New Zealand fans.
Go big John!

Um... So that link, there was an ad that played before the video. It was some GMC ad or something and it was one of those fake-it-and-make-it-look-real viral ads everybody's trying these days. That's all well and good, but, honestly, WHO THE FUCK DOESN'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FORWARD SLASH AND A BACKSLASH THESE DAYS?!?! There is a web address at the end of the ad, and the voiceover is all "blah blah blah, BACKSLASH blah blah" ... WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!??

GMC, u trollin'.

Any soccer fans? I was wondering if prior to this event, if Italy had EVER finished last in their World Cup group?

I got to watch from about 20-20 on. The tennis itself wasn't much to watch for the most part. Basically both players are very good servers and very average service returners. That combined with the speed of the grass courts at Wimbledon and the fact they are apparently closely matched just lead to a perfect storm. Lots of quick boring points, but the spectacle of the length of the match was mesmerizing.

Keanu Reeves in that first fail picture?

Heh, they might not have noticed it when choosing the photo, but it's surely part of the latest internet meme.

Heh, that explains it. I thought maybe him being in the stands was why the picture was taken in the first place. And here I thought it was some crazy coincidence.

Yeah, and unlike baseball tennis is physically demanding though. 10 plus hours, that's seriously impressive.

Tennis rules. Seriously...one of the reasons why appreciate 1 on 1 deathmatch skill in FPS games like Doom or Quake is because of how similar they are to tennis.

Obviously the physical aspect notwithstanding, Im talking about the mental part of the game. Tactics, skill, hand eye coordination, keeping a cool head....

Frag after frag after frag, point after point after point....
