It's immersive!
Using a stupid savegame system with few save points kills any immersion this game could ever produce.
I'm sorry, but in these kind of games, i want to save whenever I see fit to do it, not the level designer. I play the game, not some other person. I'm no longer a student. I work. I have family. My time management doesn't go well with save points.
I think it was a cleverly made decision to have a checkpoint savesystem in this game. At first I was used to quicksaving a game everytime before I started a conversation. If I picked a dialogue in, say, Dragon Age and I accidentily pissed someone off by it.. getting -5 rep points from Leliana for example, I quickloaded. This is the way I play. Big deal. But AP killed that forgiving option for me which made the decisions and concequenses feel all the stronger in AP.
As for the whole "wife kids pet" thing.. that's an absolute bullshit argument. AP has a checkpoint around every corner.
Playing: Skyrim, World of Warcraft.
Future: Dead Space 3.
