Half-Life E3 Tease Faked

Halflife2.net has received an email from Valve's Gabe Newell stating an image that seems to tease a Half-Life reveal at E3 is faked. Valve has promised an E3 surprise, prompting speculation that this may be an announcement of Half-Life 2: Episode Three or even Half-Life 3. Gabe's response does not indicate the surprise is not one of those games, simply that the teaser image is faked. Thanks Computer and Video Games.

I have been away from gaming for awhile. I just came here to look around for old times sake. So many people in these forums are whining, crying, bitching, conspiracy theorists.

I admit I didn't like Steam when it came out. But it was really cool to download HL2 and finally finish the game via Steam. IT is a fantastic game even 3 or 4 years later. It is worth every penney and much more. I am going to buy the other episodes and Portal.

So quit the bitching. No on else will make games this good.

Considering people have somehow convinced themselves Left 4 Dead is "consolized" I am sure Half-Life is next.

Considering the fact that the announcement specifically said it was a Portal 2 "surprise", I think you're all nuts.

Like I said already, I'm thinking Valve is giving the Black Mesa Mod team center stage and the surprise will be the release of Black Mesa.

Oooh, that's a tasty notion.

Well, according to Steam,
Title: The Orange Box
Genre: Action
Developer: Valve
Publisher: Valve
Release Date: Oct 10, 2007

I waited a whole two months before I bought my copy, while I debated with myself as to whether or not I really wanted it. But I do know that TF2 was officially released as part of the Orange Box, and I have plenty of Steam Friends who became TF2 players on that date.

No, it didn't.

According to MobyGames it did.

Xbox 360: 10.10.2007

Windows: 18.10.2007

Can't say I care either way, though.
Er, what? Following those links, it's the 10th of October for both releases. Steam worldwide release, at least.

09/10/07 for Steam
10/10/07 for NA retail 360 & PC
19/10/07 for EU retail 360 & PC
11/12/07 PS3

However IIRC something didn't quite go to plan. Can't remember if there was a slight delay on the PC release either in NA/EU; or, something rings a bell that it was released early in EU.

The Orange Box actually came out on the 360 before PC.
The Windows and Xbox 360 versions were produced and published by Valve Corporation and released on October 10, 2007 as both a boxed retail copy and a Windows-only download through Valve's Steam service. The PlayStation 3 version was produced by Electronic Arts and released on December 11, 2007 in North America and in Europe.

I wouldn't mind that too much. Although I was hoping for episode 3, but this will do too.

Source engine, UDK style release?

I'd get behind that on the basis it's min requirements mean it would work for plenty of people.

Ok so this gets interesting...
Meanwhile, It appears a "360 and PS3 journalist" was told by Valve that the "surprise" at E3 won't be of great interest to them.
PC exclusive on the cards?

Eurogamer has an article up where they say that they asked Gabe whether the surprise was episode 3 and he replied that it wasn't.

Like I said already, I'm thinking Valve is giving the Black Mesa Mod team center stage and the surprise will be the release of Black Mesa.
