Raven Hears the Call of Duty?

A rumor that Raven Software is developing an upcoming game in the Call of Duty series is reported on Kotaku, where they attribute this to a "source close" to the Activision-owned studio. This harkens back to a rumor that a third developer was involved with the series from last November, well before the Infinity Ward implosion and the announcement of Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops. This same report also says that Raven's other projects, a James Bond game and an X-Men game, are each now on hold, referring to Singularity as "complete." Thanks nin.

LOL you messed up? I totally messed up, I'm thinking of the expansion pack for elite force... so... um... I dont have a clue about elite force 2.
Wait, there was an expansion? I thought EF2 was it. Dang it.

I don't think there was ever an expansion for EF, either one or two, but I could be wrong. In any case, there was sort of a "roam" feature in EF2, but it wasn't all that great.

Also, Raven didn't make EF2. Ritual did.

Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force was pretty fun from Raven. One of the few good Trek games.
Yeah, it was. I never played the second one. Was thay any good?

Been so long... As far as I can remember it was as good if not a little better then the first one... I do remeber that the second one you could walk around the ship go to different decks and stuff that was pretty cool.
Oh yeah, I remember reading about that. How good was that? Could you go almost everyone and interact?

Fairly mundane interactions as far as I remember... seem to remember something about being able to talk to a weapons guy and go to the holo deck to try out different weapons though.

Raven has been pretty consistent in making solid (if not completely spectacular) titles for pretty much their entire history, including the current-gen era. Obviously they care about putting out quality product. As for the 'greed' factor, they're owned by Activision, so I doubt a lot of the money from their products trickles down to the employees. Game development is not even close to what it was when Raven was first established, and the fact that they've been able to stay afloat for more than a decade and a half while arguably never pushing out a truly 'bad' title is no small feat. 'Big joke' indeed.

I do not know what you have for reference when it comes to good games? But you can not possibly say other than when a game studio, like Raven, has released two games in a row - which also is almost the same - seems unimaginative and greedy. So-called serious games studios like Raven should not do that, and when they also claim to do something in the spirit of earlier historic game a then obviously did not do that - it is not only other than a lie, and appear them as lazy, greedy, or what ever you like...that is just stupid - and that is absolutely as far it can be from a quality product....

http://www.gamerankings.com/pc/560901-star-trek-elite-force-ii/index.html show decent scores (slight lower than the first game). I doubt I will ever play it. No time for any gaming.

Did you get into its multiplayer? I didn't.

Screw CoD - Make a Heretic 3 or Hexen 3, Raven!

That would awesome! Though according to Herblock's law chances are slim.

Wow....epic flashback of 3 of my friends coming over to my condo with their PCs for an outrageous DM with Phoenix Rods.

Nothing beats setting your best friends on fire and hearing their deathly screams as they fall to their knees and disintegrate.

Virtually, I mean

Wow, I can't believe there is any doubt that CoD would step up under Raven...SoF/SoF2 anyone? Those guys practically *invented* location based damage in an FPS.

I second that, the last really good game Raven did was Soldier of Fortune 2 back in 2002... Everything after that has been kinda "meh"!
Ditto.

Everything before that, was pretty good. Hexen and Heretic being amongst my faves. They should go back to their roots and do a modern time follow up to Black Crypt... that would be awesome if done right...

Interesting. I wasn't impressed with the single player demo. Was the full game much better? I hated the special powers, zero/no gravity, etc. in the game. I just want pure Nazi humans, but then I was OK (not crazy about them) with zombies and monsters in earlier Wolfenstein games.

The single player demo was absolutely not representative of the full game. The first 2-3 levels of the game were average, but after that it actually got good. The demo had the first level of the game, the weakest part of the game. The MP portion of the game is fucked, but the SP is a fun 9-10 hour ride and worth getting on a sale or something.
Interesting and thanks.
