Blood on GOG.com

The good old gamers at GOG.com now offer One unit whole Blood, which is what they are calling their Blood collection, which revives Monolith's stylized first person series in DRM-free form for modern systems. The collection includes the original Blood and Plasma Pak and Cryptic Passage add-ons, and word is: "Experience the madness in one carnage-soaked package! All the gore, all the unholy war! Zombies, gargoyles, hellhounds and blood-crazed hordes of horrors await! Crush loathsome evil of the mighty Tchernobog! Or condemn yourself to eternal damnation in this leviathan of unhallowed gaming action!"

Blood both feels and plays better than pretty much every fps that has come after it. Everything else just feels wooden and uncontrollable.

...and you're calling me strange? Blood plays like all the 2.5D shooters made in the 90's. Duke 3D, Redneck Rampage, Blood, Shadow Warrior... they all feel pretty much the same in terms of gameplay. The only thing that distinguished them was style and atmosphere. And wooden movements? Have you ever played Quake or Tribes? They offer a range of mobility that the 2.5D games couldn't even compare to.

There's a reason people have been trying both to the get the game working and remake it for years now (along with trying to get the source code), and it's not because of nostalgia.

I think it's because they liked the unique atmosphere and style of Blood more than anything else, as that's really the only thing about the game that stood out. The gameplay was completely standard stuff. People want remakes of all sorts of games. I'd like to see a Tribes remake, a Deus Ex remake, an Arcanum remake, etc. NOLF is too recent to warrant a remake. However, it definitely deserves another sequel because NOLF2 was awesome.
