This style of DRM will bring gaming to it's knees. I look forward to these games tanking and studios closing.
Or they'll just sell millions on the consoles where they can build DRM into the hardware and operating system of the platform so that the consumer never really notices it.
The problem with the L4D2 boycott is that the guys who started it turned around and back stabbed everyone with their behind closed door deal with Valve. Did you all forget that Valve invited them to their offices and after that meeting these guys dropped their boycott leaving everyone with their thumbs up their asses looking stupid.
This is why the boycott failed; people don’t stick with what they say they are going to do. They were not committed to the cause.
Actually I'd call the L4D2 boycott fairly successful. It got Valve's attention, L4D2 patches have been a bit swifter this time around and there will be DLC soon instead of a sequel announcement. Most of the time the purpose of these things is getting attention, not the failure of the product itself. |
