Publisher Take-Two is now sending out checks to owners of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas over the "Hot Coffee" scandal that included a hidden sex mini-game, reports Kotaku. Word on the GTA Class Action Settlement Website is: "The parties have reached a new settlement of this case. All those who filed claims for benefits prior to the May 16, 2008, deadline will receive those benefits prior to April 15, 2010. Checks and other important information about this settlement will be mailed to the address you provided when you filed your claim. Please read all information carefully before depositing your benefits."

How could they not see this coming? Not submitting WHAT content? It was IMPOSSIBLE to access it in the retail game as it was. You had to hack the exe (aka mod it) to access it. Similar to how you can mod fallout 3 or oblivion with nude skins. The only differance is that RS removed the access path to the content but there were some inaccessable bits left behind.

I have my doubts about any parent who is fine with buying their kid a game that features carjacking, cop killing, and adult language. But draws the line at innuendo and fully clothed PG-13 "sex". Still, they have a right to know what's in it, and decide for themselves.

for me, what makes this whole thing an epic fail is that it's not like some dumbass kid just stumbled onto the sex content. You had to know about it already, look up on the internet how to enable it and then actually turn it on. In order to "enjoy" the content, you had to actively seek the information how to turn it on and actively pursue it. How is that any different from actively trying to find out where your dad has stored the porn stash? It's not like you just start the game and you're unwittingly bombarded with porn

No, it was rated M. It was recalled and rated AO after this fiasco until they could permanently patch out the sex game, at which point it was rated M again. It was never rated T.

To be accurate, San Andreas wasn't rated M when this content was found, which was the problem. It was rated T or whatever the step below M is. After this content was found, the game was recalled, and rerated.

Why is sex considered immoral? The game was rated M meaning 17+, and from what I understand it was the characters girlfriend. It wasn't a hooker and she wasn't raped. A couple in a relationship having sex, sounds like it was the least morally questionable act in the whole game. I don't think people hate morality, I think a lot of people find the moral standards of the 'morality police' ass backwards. Carjacking, killing, theft, we'll grumble about those, but SEX ZOMG LETS SUE!
