Out of the Blue

I had a triumph over the weekend in my long-standing quest to find Coca-Cola sweetened by sugar rather than high-fructose corn syrup. We were shopping in Costco when I recalled that there is supposed to be Coke available around this time of year that's made with sugar to be kosher for Passover. We took a look for this in the soda section, and instead finally found the Mexican-manufactured coke that first sent us to Costco in the first place about 10 months ago. As a bonus it comes in 12 oz. long-neck glass bottles, old-style green tint and all. It's almost a buck a bottle, and worth every penny. Belated thanks to all of you who alerted me to the availability of this treat.

Why are you trying so hard to get cane sugar Coke products when you live near an awesome company that makes cane sugar sodas.

http://www.boylanbottling.com

There birch beer is awesome (like root beer, but different). There root beer is of course great. They have an awesome cola, cream, orange cream, ginger-ale, etc etc.

They are a NJ based company, so you should be able to get it around there if we can get it down here so far away.

100X better then Coke or Pepsi.

Batman are you losing your love for BFbc2?

Nope, but I was looking forward to a lot of the *issues to be solved during the 9 days I was gone....apparently they just made things worse!

My friends list still can't hold more than 20 people.

I know I am a few days late to the conversation - but why in the hell would you take points away from people after dying in BFBC2?

WHAT THE F***, OVER!

What what else would you suggest upwards of 250 bucks and not ATI. No offense to fans of ATI, but I have no reason not to stick with Nvidia (RIP 3Dfx).

We've got Throwback Pepsi and Mt. Dew all over the stores here. But this Rocket Fizz place actually had Bubble Up. Hadn't seen that in forever. They also carry Faygo, although I didn't grow up with it, along with some of the other popular hard-to-find sodas like Black Lemonade, Big Red, ginger beer, etc.

Ah Mexican Coca Cola. Besides the cheap-ass rent the one awesome thing about living in a Mexican 'hood in Chicago.

Recently saw some "limited edition" cans of "Throwback Pepsi" with sugar too at another random corner store.

Battlefield Earth ended with the humans destroying the evil aliens planet by igniting their hydrogen based atmosphere with a match.

The GTS 250 is basically a re-branded 9800GTX+. That was never a particularly great card to begin with. It would be a horrible purchase right now for anything over $100.

For the same $150 price you can have an ATI 4870 1GB, which will stomp all over it. Even the 512mb 4870 stomps all over it.

This is what I have:
Nvidia EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB
8800
And this is what I am looking at getting (not by that company)
Nvidia 250 GTS 1Gb
250

Would this be an upgrade? And how much performance could I expect over the 8800?

Thanks guys, hopefully going and getting a card tonight.

OK don't get me wrong, it wasn't a great movie. At times it was laughably lame and it probably cost a nice bundle, but I didn't think it was *that* bad. I give it a 2/5, maybe a 1.5/5.

But worst movie of the Decade? Really? Have they never seen a ScyFy Channel Saturday Night film?

Even counting big / expensive films, I saw worse movies during the last decade.

I was able to score some sugar-sweetened Coke at a store called Rocket Fizz, here in Vegas.

They had some at work a couple of weeks ago, which surprised me. I tried a couple of variations: a cola (either Coke or Pepsi), Dr Pepper, and Mountain Dew.

It tasted *different* but I don't know if I'd call it better. Then again I usually have soda maybe once every 2 months so it was a long while since my last regular-soda (little to compare to).

Plus, I felt quite gassy after trying it the first time. I only had a basic/bland lunch so I doubt it was that, but I was burping up a storm afterward (embarrassing at work). And this is from a guy that drinks at least 1 liter of Seltzer water every day.

As I drove home tonight I passed a random stormtrooper walking along in the rain. He gave me a little wave as I stared at him.

I think I need to start taking more or possibly less drugs.

you are wrong, the differences between HFCS and UNREFINED sugar are quite large.. HFCS is very similar to refined sugar as end result, but then again a tablespoon of HFCS has alot more fructose than a tablespoon of refined sugar.. thats why its called HIGH FRUCTOSE

also there is not nearly the same amount of laboratory grade chemical processes involved in making refined sugar, and basically none with unrefined sugar.. so with HFCS you are also getting "trace" amounts of all kinds of other things which are considered "ok" by the FDA in small amounts

of course, that goes for any kind of processed food or processed food additive

Actually the science of HFCS and sugar says there is no difference healthwise. But there is a taste difference because table sugar and HFCS can have different ratios of glucose to fructose. See here for more information:
