I'm with Verno here...BFBC2 is not in any way like Q3A or MW2. Any more than 32 players, though, and it might "lean" that way. Some of the most fun I have with this game is in the low-count games where 5 or 7 friends and I get together and play rush...you actually have to hunt the attackers and plan the assaults. And if you don't follow the job that your class comes with, the whole team goes down. I like the hunt and plot. Lord knows there's enough run and gun out there. And you don't need to bog it down with the trappings of a sim to make it that way (it's usually not fun with all that baggage over the long term anyway).
Ok, sure, the game has bugs (it's almost a BF rite of passage), but DICE is one of the few studios (meaning them and id) that actually support their titles years after most others pass on for better things (BF2 patch, anyone?)
I admire the fact that they value the program enough to support it, and I'm glad EA is giving DICE the latitude to do so.
IMO.

I was referencing Quake 3 Arena as being a meat grinder. Can't stay alive for 3 minutes without getting whacked my someone. Repetitive monotony.
I just think BF:BC2 should have larger areas to do battle. 32 players is definitely too small for some of these maps.
El Alamein (BF 1942/Desert Combat) was a good size. Loved that open expanse. I made it my sole mission to man the AA batteries and give those pilots hell. |

Dying and respawning is not what the game is about. It retains the basic BF principles, people who do what you're describing just bleed tickets from your side so I have no idea why you want BF3 so badly, it will be exactly the same problem there. Having lean and prone isn't going to suddenly make you into a better player. As if BF2 air superiority issues weren't even more obnoxious by the way.
There are times when I die a lot but it's usually because I am putting myself in harms way to accomplish an objective. The rest of the time I die about as often as I would expect to running around with 31 other players in the mix. I find it amusing you even bring up mil sims and Quake 3 Arena when you just finished ranting about dying too much. You died a lot in BF2 too, this isn't MW2 where people go on killstreaks and nuke the other team or something.
I want mod tools as much as the next guy but your rant is bizarre. |

Maybe harder to find out where they're shooting from. Once you know, you can drop arty on 'em. So when you were playing single player I know that you were jonesing for LEAN. I could barely stand it.
This game is all about dying, respawning, dying, respawning, until it almost feels like Quake3 Arena. Surprisingly, I'm finding myself playing that other mil sim title more.
I'm holding out hope for BF3. If BF3 is crap, they better release fucking mod tools so we can... ah forget it. Beating a dead horse. |

I mean, seriously, it's just stupid...but the game is still fun.
I just hope it doesn't set a trend. It's a stupid and lazy solution to their problem (they CLAIM it's not in because it makes it easier to exploit, but I think it's really more about the number of buttons on a gamepad).
If it's really just about dolphin diving, then they are the laziest freakin' coders on the planet...then again, they never DID fix that red tag bug...
-Jn- Ifriti Sophist From what I understand, it was a design decision. And after playing the game (a lot), Recon class (sniper) going prone would make them practically impossible to kill. I'm glad there's no prone. |

| Never going to happen, they already said no to that and prone. Bug them on their forums if you want them to actually hear it. |

Now, if EA would be kind enough to release the dedicated server files....
