The first patch for The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom is now available, updating the strategy/management sequel to version 1.01. The patch is available from the Ubisoft Website and it is mirrored on AtomicGamer, FileFront, Gamer's Hell, The Patches Scrolls, Strategy Informer, and WorthPlaying. The update adds Facebook and Twitter support, among other things. The complete patch notes follow.

Changes in Version 1.01

Improvements
- Facebook and Twitter features implemented
- Increased multiplayer stability
- Fixed various balancing issues
- Fixes localization issues

Bug Fixes
- Fixed various problems with the savegame option
- Fixed problems with online profile storage
- Fixed crashes related to street upgrade
- Fixed crashes in map forge
- Fixed a lot of minor bugs

If you are behind a proxy and would like to use the Facebook features, add the following entries under [System] in your options.ini (find it here: C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\My Documents\Settlers7\Options.ini):

Disabling AA/MS also removed the issue although then you get to deal with jaggies, but with the patch it shouldn't be an issue.

Why doesn't Facebook or Twitter make their own freaking operating systems? that way, Game developers can concentrate on creating titles for those masses, having those accounts as a requirement, then no one will complain about DRM, and then new startup companies can concentrate on making PC games the gamers will pay to play. Clearly, the immersion levels , gaming learning curves and abilities, of this great divide of players, is Black and White. The great divide is here now anyway, I don't care to have a FB account, but clearly that is where all the money is, so it leaves us veteran gamers with only feelings of angst.

Wooooooooooow, Facebook and Twitter support!!!. It almost makes me forget the DRM that this and every Ubi game now has and that precludes me from buying any of them!. Good move, Ubi, good move. What a pity that you're wasting Bruce Shelley's talent on a game that no PC gamer should buy.
