On BFBC2's Brisk Sales

Battlefield Blog has word that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is on pace to be the top-selling title in North America and Europe for March 2010, having sold over 2.3 million units. They say the title is so popular "that EA and DICE have had to add even more hardware to handle the player numbers," and that they "continue to monitor online play daily to make sure everyone can play as well as continue to work on the game for future updates and DLC which you can get at no extra cost with the VIP code (PC BFBC2 players will get the content in the form of downloads without the need for a VIP code)." They also have an updated list of milestones for the project:

81 billion points have been earned in online multiplayer sessions
43 million weapons and gadgets have been unlocked in online multiplayer
Over 6 million video views on YouTube
2.9 million hours have been spent playing online in the last 24 hours alone
230k peak-concurrent-users (PCUs)
Over 44k Twitter fans (most out of any EA title) http://twitter.com/OfficialBFBC2

Don't listen to this guy, he's either stupid, never satisfied (see: PC elitist), or both.

The game has some bugs, but as far as buggy games go, it's average.

The gameplay and graphics, however, are amazing.

It may have it's problems (some of which are inexcusable), but I generally have a great time with BC2. I highly recommend it if you like online shooters.

Actual issues with the game (for me) -still can't see pings (even when I run as admin) -can't add people to friends list -server list takes a while to load -still can't bind ENTER to anything without also getting the squad/loadout screen to pop up every time Things I do to "fix" these issues I have: 1. find 1-3 very good servers.. play on them.. 2. when i want to go back to them, go to my history (adding to favorites doesnt work every time) There are some nagging issues..issues that should've been fixed pre release, or during the beta itself. However.. when the game is good, it's freaking amazing.

it costs money to set up those servers, they didn't have excess capacity because they didn't want to pay the money. but they wouldn't need to if they let you host your own server. do you demand the ability to run your own games?

Amazon.com has the regular edition for $39.99 Just get the regular edition, if you're even half decent at FPS shooters you'll have everything unlocked in the first week of play and that's only if you play a few hours each night.

Very few big budget games will be platform exclusive going forward, I doubt BF3 would be any different.

I consider this news as hopeful for fully funded+staffed BF3 development. Not sure about PC exclusivity.

They are things you get as you gain rank. Sweet deal you missed out on. I'm sure now that the LE offer is over that steam will repost the 4 pack deal.

I'm still on the fence on getting this. I almost bought it a couple of days ago when Gamestop.com had a sale on it. They had it for $39.99 for the limited edition and a $10 gift card. Now it's back to $49.99 for the regular edition. Amazon.com has the regular edition for $39.99 and NewEgg has the Limited edition for $49.99.

I know what extras you get with the limited edition, but are they exclusive to the limited edition or are they things you get anyway as you gain rank?

On one hand I'm not sure I want to spend $50 on a game I may not have much time to play, and on the other, I don't want to spend $40 on the game if I'm at a disadvantage to those who bought early and got the fancy limited edition.
