Black Prophecy to be Free-to-Play

The space-themed MMOG Black Prophecy will be a free-to-play online game, announce gamigo AG and Reakktor Media, as gamigo now owns the global distribution and publishing rights for the game, which is expected to enter closed beta testing next month. They say: "A lot has happened in the development of Black Prophecy in the past few weeks. The biggest change has been the new direction as a free-to-play online game, previously unheard of for a game of this quality. Among other things, a crafting system was added and the layout of the game world was opened up. In-game dialogue will be recorded by professional voice actors. The one-and-a-half hour long orchestral soundtrack provides a rich and varied score of background music."

Welp, so much for that. With Jumpgate: Evolution looking to be either vaporware or a complete turd if it does release, this was my only hope on the horizon for a Earth and Beyond experience. I don't do F2P games because I hate being nickel and dimed to death.

Dammit

There's an earth and beyond EMU out there....pretty playable.

I don't always drink carbonated Mexican rat piss, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.

This could be a good or bad thing. On the one hand, no monthly fee for an MMO is great and makes me more likely to play it. On the other hand, being completely free to play means they'll rely on advertising and microtransactions, which I don't like.

Solution: Make this a retail, single-player game.
