Crysis 2 Screenshots

Crytek has released the first two screenshots from Crysis 2, their upcoming first-person shooter sequel. The shots show a couple of looks at the kind of impact a guy with a nanosuit can have on New York City.

Doesn't really look that much better than Crysis 1. Not that it needs to. I'm sure my 8GB of G.skill ram and 4870x2 will handle it nicely.
Really? As my 5970 doesn't run the game "nicely" with all the settings cranked up - anti-aliasing is particularly brutal.

Really?

I play Crysis maxed with my 5870 and it runs very "nicely".

Anyway, the graphics don't appeal to me. I personally wasn't impressed by the graphics in Crysis. What I'm looking for is a solid game. I doubt I'll be getting Crysis 2 at full price, though I'll almost certainly pick it up at some point.

The bus difference will be hardly noticeable.

I dunno 'bout that. What would be causing the extreme stuttering problem in GTA4? I've tried damn near everything and yet it still stutters to the point of being unplayable. I've turned the graphics settings down to the lowest, changed sound cards, defragged. Hell, I even re-installed it on my Intel X-25 SSD to see if that would help. Nothing. But when I have the HD4870 in, it runs just fine... Whatever

It's not gonna be the bus. It's likely some weird combination of hardware somewhere that's screwing up your system for that particular game. It's happened to me before. It's not that GTA4 runs bad because the card has a 128bit bus, vs a 256bit bus.

As for the drivers, can't say, I'm currently on Nvidia.

Haven't those fools learned anything from that gorilla documentary, what was it called again. King Kong?

Same goes with those dinosaurs, I'm glad that park got shut down.

Be about my luck they'll just port the console version to the PC and it'll be capped at 30fps and have a FOV lock.

Seriously, get more memory. Go to 4 gigs right now. In 32bit you can use the 1 extra gig and it will help big time.

More system RAM...Go with the 4870 though.

Rigs, are you running a 64 bit OS?

Negative. 32-bit for now, I only have 2gb of RAM so I don't really see the point. I plan to upgrade later on (Core i7, another 2 or 4gb RAM) and will most likely do the switch over then. I'm leaning more toward the HD4870...

The bus difference will be hardly noticeable.

I had the Cat 10.2's in, but on reboot, I was looking at my desktop in 4 colors! Rubeyes An error popped up in all it's CGA glory and told me that the CCC was incompatible with the drivers I had installed! Wtf They both came in the same download from the same freakin' place. So I went back to the oldie-but-goodie 9.12's...Somehow, though, I don't think that has to do with the stuttering. I should note that most of my other games run fine but they just don't seem to be 'stable'. I feel like if I push it too hard, it'll crash or something... *sigh*

Those shots look horribly doctored to me. That said, I do like the setting.

Rigs, are you running a 64 bit OS? If so, go for the 1Gig RAM card, otherwise go for the 512MB one.

The bus difference will be hardly noticeable.

ATI Radeon HD4870 w/512mb

Quick consensus while you guys are here...

If you had to choose one of these to go with a Core i5-750 w/2gb Kingston DDR3 (on a Gigabyte P55M-UD2) and WinXP/SP3-Win7 dual-boot, which would it be?

ATI Radeon HD4870 w/512mb

or

ATI Radeon HD5770 w/1024mb

Keep in mind the HD5770, while having more RAM on-board, is limited to a 128-bit bus, while the HD4870 is 256-bit...

I have both. The HD4870 was from a system I built a year and a half ago (right when the HD4870's came out, so that's why it's only 512mb RAM - sucks to be an early adopter sometimes) and the HD5770 from the one I type this on, built a month ago. The older system is going to a relative and I wanted to make sure I got the best card. For some reason, the HD5770 stutters horribly in GTA4, whereas the HD4870 was smooth as silk after the second patch...I can't decide, so you do it for me!

Not meaning to jack the thread or anything,

Them's some mighty purrty screenies there...I'm guessing the minimum will be a Six-Core i7 980x, 16 gigs of DDR5, a 160gb SSD hard drive, and four nVidia GTX480's in Quad-SLI? Maybe a side of Windows8 and DirectX12 to go along with it?

That probably sums it up. This series from these devs has always gone "beyond" the limits of the current "common" high end hardware haha. Not that its a bad thing. I love the eye candy and far cry and crysis were both pretty cool.

I do believe there is some doctoring in the image, but its still pretty hot. Like the fires on the upper floors in the back ground. Those look added in to me. But who knows.

Remember that this will also be out on the consoles so I'm wondering how much this will really push the PC, if at all.
