Interzone Intrigue

Mike Turner removes Interzone Futebol content from Interzone Perth studio attempts to relate an amazing tale of intrigue surrounding game developer Interzone (thanks Ant). Here's the way this is summarized in a story on Slashdot: "A US owned gaming company has fled Australia, leaving unpaid employees and a massive tax bill. Apparently many staff have been working unpaid for months to allow their game to ship and hopefully the company to recover. Interzone's Perth (Western Australia) office was created with the assistance of a state government grant. Last week Interzone's (American) CEO entered the building at night and removed all the servers and IP so that Interzone could continue production at a new company they have opened in Ireland. The staff caught him on camera. More background here."

Indie dev is the way forward for Perth, in my opinion. Waiting around for government or investor money just isn't a wise a move.

This is the downside of our quasi socialist economic programs. Awesome that the Gov. want's to build an industry where it doesn't currently exist, but time and time again, every time you give money away like that, you attract fly by nighters.

Sucks that any mates I have here with any interest in making games has to go hardcore and indy or move interstate/overseas.

Gotta' love the American way of doing business. "I don't care who gets screwed over as long as I get what I want!" Not that this sort of thing doesn't happen elsewhere too but it's funny how much more often it's a US CEO who's involved.

My utter disgust for spineless upper management knows no bounds. This guy (Mike Turner) and his partner should be dragged behind a truck until they look like a pair of red welcome mats.
