Battlefield: Bad Company 2 DirectX 11 Details

There's a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 interview on PC Games Hardware chatting with Anders Gyllenberg of DICE, discussing technical details about the Frostbite engine and support for DirectX 11 features. Along the way a gameplay question gets jammed in there, as a question about DirectX 9 oddly asks about the missing prone feature, receiving this response: "Regarding prone that is a design decision which we won’t change in the full game."

Snipers are hard enough to hit when they're crouching by cover up on the hills near the attacker's spawn. Prone is not necessary. Don't see the need for it, although crouch toggle would be kinda nice.

This game is a ton of fun. It's like BF2 all over again for me. Can't wait to play on some more maps.

Not sure if I totally agree with the no prone though.Played the ps3 beta and I think no prone weaken the sniper's abilities Love the directx 11 though...just dropped 1500 on a new box...lets rock!:)

Yeah, it's a fun experience... I was all for the prone & lean though. There's a pile of wooden posts at the first defense zone that's not high enough to protect your head while crouched, perfect for an enemy sniper to pop your melon.

Yeah, it's good. I'm glad DICE took the extra time with it.

This game is everything I hoped it would be, judging from the beta.

I fucking love it.

So does this mean no more of those cheap jump-and-prone bunny hoppin' players found in BF2?

Sweet.

they are now gone.

And yes, there is TONS of cover. But the safe move is to keep moving.

Anybody who played the beta/demo knows that there is no need for prone as it is a complete different game. As David 'locust9' Gorldfarb said: "BF BC2 is run and maneuver, not duck and hide".
