| Wow, that can't be right. All that for $550? Must be some corporate discount. |

My job bought me a brand new computer. A quad-core Intel 2.88 Ienovo with 6 GB ram, 8800 GeForce with dual-DVI outputs, 550 GB 7200 SATA drive, for $550. When I decide to upgrade I'm going to buy one of these. That's a beastly amount of power for such little dough.

Why is the news media comfortable with lying about science? |

1. The media loves a good cat fight. They can generate ratings by reporting the back and forth. Ratings mean money. So there's a vested interest to give the loonies a platform from which to spew untruths.
2. As well, most media outlets are owned by large corporations who would be adversely affected by policies restrict corporations as many scientific conclusions suggest (overfishing, cheap energy based on carbon, pollution effects on health, etc.) |

| I don't think the TV exec's realise how much they are shooting themselves in the foot. I'm very reluctant to start watching a TV series now because I know chances are if I like it, it'll be cancelled - and likely at a bad point with no conclusion. |

Firefly got SOOOO screwed,; should have been number 1. Part of me thinks Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles should have been on there as well, seeing as how it was dumped onto Friday nights to die, and even then was getting big DVR numbers.

Do media editors actually not know that chimps are apes, or do they assume that their audience does not know... I think it is safe to assume the latter. Just ask people what the difference is between monkeys and chimps. Ask them if they are both apes and see what they say. |
