Not when people specifically mention the slow movement of enemies and the jerky nature of the animation. I know what I'm talking about, and I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Also, please capitalize letters in your posts. It's annoying.

The term "Vaporware" has become what the term "Lag" became about 10 years ago.
Lag used to apply to latency and "Frame drops" or "dropped frames" referred to on screen images/animation slowing down due to taxed hardware.
Nowadays these kids use "Lag" as a blanket term to mean *any* slowdown in *any* way.
Just last week I saw someone post a message about "Lag" in Bioshock. I had no idea Bioshock 1 was online. There was a time when people would laugh someone off a board for using the term incorrectly like that. |

Wasn't its beta announced to start this year though, with access given away to blizzcon attendees and lucky blizzard account sweepstakes winners? I heard something like that at Blizzcon. |

I would've nominated these guys: http://www.onlive.com
I think we were all a little dubious when we first saw someone claiming to do streaming full-resolution gaming from the cloud. I think it sounds great, but I'll believe it when I see it. But it's still in Beta, and while they technically still have time to make their "Winter 2009" launch date posted on their website, somehow I think it's gonna come and go without a finished product.
Re: Black Mesa, it's a shame that it's dragged out so long b/c I think the longer a private mod goes on the lower it's chances of reaching completion. Real life just gets in the way. I'd rather see Valve hand them some seed money (or heck, even lend them some talent) and then release it on Steam for $5. I think it'd sell like hotcakes. |

I think people are confusing vaporware with patience. StarCraft 2 isn't vaporware; it's coming out. Just not as fast as people want it too. Wasn't its beta announced to start this year though, with access given away to blizzcon attendees and lucky blizzard account sweepstakes winners?
I agree that it doesn't really qualify as vapor yet, just another slipped "release" date so far. |

| I also agree that Starcraft 2 shouldn't be considered vaporware. They never gave a release date and they are continually releasing new info, screenshots and videos on the game. |

Picking on a mod made by hobbyists is a bit lame though. You're aware this is a Wired article, right? Lame doesn't BEGIN to describe Wired.

| Blizzard usually takes forever to release a game, but it still usually comes out. I would hardly call SC2 vaporware. I think they are using the term too liberally with most of that list really.. |

Picking on a mod made by hobbyists is a bit lame though. Normally I would agree.
But then again, the Black Mesa Team shouldn't have put out that "Coming in 2009" trailer either. They deserve to eat "a little shit" for that... whether doing it free or not.
Don't get me wrong... I still hope they get it done and do appreciate their efforts... but they kind of brought this on themselves.

This is true!
Actually I was thinking StarCraft: Ghost is more vaporware than StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. Blizzard never actually canceled the project. |

Picking on a mod made by hobbyists is a bit lame though. Extremely. As is calling Spotify vaporware ("in the US") when it's been running overseas. |

Picking on a mod made by hobbyists is a bit lame though. These guys are doing this for free, and unless they are independently wealthy and single, have many other responsibilities to juggle on top of coding an ambitious mod like BM:Source.
