TeamSpeak 3.0 Beta

A new version 3.0 beta of the TeamSpeak gaming voice-communication package is now available. The site is in lockdown mode to help cope with the demand, but the TeamSpeak Community Forums are still online. Thanks Fileplay, where they have the downloads mirrored to help with the hammered website.

Thirding Mumble. It's excellent; the overlay is pretty handy, though it can be a little annoying and confusing for first-time users. The positional audio, in games that support it, is pretty neat too.

Like you really have 50-400 people on the same channel you tool. What game uses that anyways? Maybe WOW, but I doubt you would ever be able to understand anyone.

Face it, 20 is pretty much max and yes Skype support I believe 24 per channel, works well.

Wasn't bagging on Ventrillo, but never used it, no need to with Skype.

I've set up the server Murmur that goes with the client Mumble and it was relatively easy as I recall it. Low latency and low overhead without the restrictions of Ventrilo. Skype always used too much resources for my liking. Teamspeak never had the quality we needed in the multi-lingual community of HL2DM in Europe.

I recommend Mumble. Low latency, low overhead.

Seconded. It also offers servers without the limitations vent places on them iirc.

Unfortunately, people were always very hesitant to give mumble even a try. And if they did, they were intimidated by the setup. Have to admit that the default setting "show all users in overlay, highlight speakers" didn't help.

Still, a very nice piece of software. Just make sure you give people a chance to get it set up and work out the kinks well before the first official use in a wow raid or something like that..

Ventrillo? Never tried it, why bother when Skype kicks so much ass?

I wasn't aware you could have 50-400 person servers with Skype. But I haven't used it in ages. Isn't it geared more towards 1 on 1 conversations?

If you don't like where gaming is heading, stop giving your money to the people who are taking it in that direction.

What tard thought that it would be a good idea to do their phoentic name stuff via that method. It NEVER comes out right even if you follow that guide. Ventrillos is pretty flawless. Why they couldn't use a similiar system instead of creating some retarded stuff like that that most folks will never be able to get to work is beyond me. =P Sad, as I had great hopes for this, and it's one of many problems with it. Granted it's a beta, so we'll see, I don't see them fixing the phonetic stuff though.

No, we don't.

Teamspeak, 3-6 seconds between someone saying something and you hearing it.

XFire - Lags the shit out of all games, good idea, poor implementation.

Skype - about a .02 millisecond delay between what you say and what the others hear.

Ventrillo? Never tried it, why bother when Skype kicks so much ass?

TeamSpeak is garbage. Ventrilo is better by quite a margin.

Wow it only took them like what 5 years?
Doesn't everyone just use Ventrilo now?
