SEGA Wins Aus AvP Appeal

SEGA has won their appeal of the Australian Classification Board's refusal to rate Aliens vs. Predator, Rebellion's upcoming shooter, reports Kotaku. The game is now rated MA15+ in Australia, making the game legal to sell and own down under. "It is with great pleasure that we announce the success of our appeal. We are particularly proud that the game will be released in its original entirety, with no content altered or removed whatsoever," says Sega Australia general manager Darren Macbeth. "This is a big win for Australian gamers. We applaud the Classification Review Board on making a decision that clearly considers the context of the game, and is in line with the modern expectations of reasonable Australians."

TF2 would be cartoon gore. I'm not sure I'd classify L4D as such.

No, nothing scary. But cartoon gore makes her laugh and say, "Cool!"

Would you let your 9 yr old play dead space alone at night too? ^^

Of course, before its out this is just speculation but i am now simply presuming that AvP will be much closer to actual horror than L4D

Considering I saw Aliens when I was 15, I highly doubt this is anything inappropriate for someone that age. People need to lighten up.

I wonder what people would say if they ever found out that I let my 9 year-old play L4D2 with me...

Don't get me wrong I hate all age restrictions, but i am way beyond 18 ,p I hate that they bother me even though i am above age restrictions. But this game is not 15+ material.. its Adults Only Material, and marketed as such.

These age Ratings exist for parental guidance after all, and parents might be very shocked to get the most gruesome game of this decade (if early reviews are any indication) packaged in MA 15+

There is no 18+ classification in AU

But there is currently an effort to get one and that's what he's referring too.

So now instead of denial they approve an adult only game for children.
Yup. That's why Australia needs to sort its act out and get an adult rating, as currently their system fails children and adults.

Only reason it passed I think is because they re trying to get a +18 rating and they are 'being nice'.

There is no 18+ classification in AU (MA15+ is the highest) and thats something they need if they want to do anything about it or want to argue decently.

I would appreciate such effort in Germany too SEGA!! Germany's population is 4 times higher than AU's...

Are you even a parent dude? Do you remember when you were in your late teens? This is hardly inapropriate material for a teenage boy. If this were labled for the under 15 crowd, well, I could see the rebuke. Lighten up.
