I have a GTX 275 and there are games I can't max, or at least games I can't max and get good performance as well. Crysis, GTA4, Far Cry 2, Assassin's Creed, Borderlands... Assassin's Creed can go down to the 20s at max settings, Borderlands dives into the 30s no matter what for me with dynamic shadows on. Far Cry 2's framerate jumps all around depending on how much is on screen at ultra settings.

If you're playing at 1080p or above and like having 60fps there is plenty of reason to upgrade when you have the cash.

Yeah, I caught that and was correcting it when you post. Thanks. What are the latest video card offerings anyway. Anyone here keeping up to date? Wondering what are the top dogs from both camps. I'll go check that list that has all of them graphed out for the past few years... think it's on Tom's. Bad news is it may get me thinking I need an upgrade.

edit: From the look of it GPUs like CPUs are not making huge strides over the past couple years. Going to stick with what I have for a while longer.

I was again just blown away by the fact that I too have a GTX 260... for about a year and a half now... plus a PC build that is going on three years old... the best part... I feel no need to upgrade.

Playing DA:O on max settings 1900x1200 with nothing to complain about.

Edit: Damn, it sucks getting old and not checking my dates before I post. I guess it's not as old as I thought. Subtracted a year from that 260. Still not doing badly. The PC is really that old. And it was just a middle of the road build no where near cutting edge.

has anyone tried forcing AA in Borderlands? Does it work?

You can for it through nHancer with the UE3 profiles... I know 41 works and some others should as well. Be aware though that it has a massive performance hit and doesn't look all that different... the game has a built-in edge smoothing effect on most surfaces, so the AA is redundant in most areas.

The main areas where the jaggies are is the distant solid black lines. This is hidden by the depth of field normally, but if you turn it off those jaggies will be apparent.

What I ended up doing was going to the "agree and continue" page for the 32-bit drivers, then changing the URL to point at the 64-bit file. It appears to have worked just fine.

Drivers like 186.55 ran it flawlessly. It was anything in the 190's range, and if you didn't see the problem with those drivers count yourself lucky. Look at NVNEWS'es drivers forum, and -every- single 190 driver thread has someone asking if the problem's been fixed usually on the first page.. well, except these newest ones.

Fallout 3 would hitch for me when ever I turned my gaze in different directions. Like looking up to the sky then back down there would be a noticeable hitch. In Megaton it was unbearable. This has been with all the 190 drivers so far, I'll give these a shot.

hmmm....never noticed that. Maybe I had older drivers that didn't do it?

I'm still currently playing Fallout 3 (no mods, no DLC) and never had that issue (GTX 260). I've finished the main quest, and installed the free play after MQ mod so I could keep exploring. I bought the FO3 GotY, but I'm going to start a new game when I install that.

You miss a lot if you just stick to the main quest. I took on offers for side quests, but I didn't go out of my way to complete them. If they were near my travel to things on the main quest I'd do them, and once it led to a long delay in getting a main quest done.

Yeah, that's the issue. These drivers finally fix it.

The link for the Windows 7 64-bit drivers appears to be broken, and the nVidia site won't take you to them either

These are very good so far, first driver update since 186 that I am happy with out of the box. Finally fixes the Fallout 3 issues as well.
