Avatar Demo

A playable demo for James Cameron's Avatar: The Game is now available, providing a sample of the upcoming tie-in with the latest major motion picture from the Aliens and Titanic director. The demo first surfaced on the German Coca-Cola Zero Website (thanks EMkaEL and Andy), of all places, and while the page is German, the demo supports several other languages, including English. The version we checked out here had a few complications, on installation it complained of a CRC error on the UK readme, but the installation proceeded fine after choosing to ignore that, and after bombing once, it ran (we've also not been able to get sound to work, but haven't really spent that long trying to fix that). Also, the installer didn't create any shortcuts to launch the game, but it could be launched from the \Program Files\Ubisoft\Demo\James Cameron's AVATAR - THE GAME (Demo)\bin\ directory. The download is mirrored on AtomicGamer, ComputerGames.ro, FileFront, Gamer's Hell, and Worthplaying.

Wanted was... not massively horrible.

Wolverine was pretty badass if you ask me.

As for this game. I don't think I'll even try the demo

The movie looks gay as hell. Sure the technology is oooh aaaahh, but the story is totally getting gay with kids.

Horrible textures, some of them look like 256x256. They shoulda used the Crysis engine to do the whole forest thing because this aint happenin, on top of that its a funnel game. Weird AI, nasty gameplay wow not even an attempt to do something different.

Your eyeballs are going to jump out of their sockets & into your hands, they will sob with joy......they will melt.
All that remains?
Two little puddles in each palm where your eyeballs once sat.
Your eyesockets will attempt to sob for their lost comrades.

I have played worse, but I also have played better.

Movie should be awesome. If I got nothing better to do this game is a good time waster

I wonder if this is a preview of things to come for the shipping version of the game....?

whatever is in the demo is in the game, aside from some tweaks here and there and the usual day one patch release games hardly ever change that much between demo and release.

I hope Cameron got his money up front from the game producers, looks like they're going to outdo E.T. for the contender of biggest "land fill" failure.

Downloaded it... no time to play today, L4D2 is out. Check it out later this week I guess.

It would be the first movie game worth owning since... I don't even know.

Why would they release something that has broken sound and a fucked up installer, and didn't even run on first launch? Doesn't bode well in the quality department.
