I wasn't interested in this game when I saw it a few months ago, but my friend convinced me to start playing when the open-beta started a few days ago. It definitely has its bugs, and one of the classes isn't even close to finishes (should hope that poor magus gets some love soon), but there's still a certain something about it. The environments, characters, gameplay, it all comes together into a fun game. I still can't believe I can ask a question in the chat channels and get real responses instead of Chuck Norris jokes. Reading all the stuff on their homepage shows an incredible amount of potential for the game as well. I'll happily be playing when the game launches. Be gone shill!
I don't know, I really don't care that it looks similar to WoW in any regards. I'll probably use a custom UI anyways once people start making them for the game. I just started playing in the open beta today and I really like it. Of course, it has its bugs like any other MMO that is in beta, but after talking to everyone that has been in beta since it was closed it seems like the game gets better and better with each patch. Yeah, you too... shill! Go away!

Notice how the 2 people to praise the game registered today, and this is their only post?
*cough*shills*cough*
The game is garbage, plain and simple. Lets see if history repeats itself...
Edit: In the time it took me to write this, one more shill got a post in ;).

@LazyCat:
There's a BIG difference between having GUI elements in the same places ("Industry Standards")& having them look the same (blatantly copying) in games from 2 different publishers and you know that (or should) so please stop trying to be argumentative when what you say is not whats being talked about..
If play mechanics and the 'look and feel' as well as your 'industry standards' are copied from WoW to *Game X* and released, then I'm sorry but *Game X* has blatantly ripped off WoW's look and feel which is copyrighted under their patents for the game and unless *Game X* has a license from Blizz/Activision to use the WoW look and feel... they're illegally infringing on the WoW IP as well...
Instant Lawsuit w/ 0% Chance of *Game X* being able to win...A Cease and Desist injunction will stop *Game X* in it's tracks and I don't see that they have any defense against that from happening.. |

Younger baby gamers that are whining about it being "WoW" like just don't grasp the concept of industry standards. The cartoony look is there because the models are quick and fast. This means more overall content. You really cant do much more without having a hudge art/modeling team and budget. This also drives up the client requirements. Icons on the bottom of the screen is a standard. Interface menus have the same basic layout because they are intuitive. All of these were in place before WoW came along. The EvE like real time skill studies is the first I have seen in a fantasy RPG. |

| Wow. Had not even heard of this game before today and had to check out. Looks pretty much exactly like WoW. Even the artwork of the skill icons look the same artistically. Would not be surprised to hear of a lawsuit in the works. |

Given that this is the same guy that was making Horizons, got his company stolen from him by "a fired Turbine exec" - Dave Bowman, which then (Bowman) put out a shitty product, and all the trouble Dave Allen has had in the past securing funding and fighting with publishers (Sort of like Derek Smart)...
Uhm, even if it's a complete WoW clone, it probably won't be very successful.

Holy crap they've really ripped of WoW haven't they? Visually and stylistically it's a complete ripoff. So much so I'm surprised they haven't been sued by ActiBlizz...yet. I'm sure it'll happen though. |

I hadn't even paid any attention to this MMO until today. I looked at a screenshot and saw that they directly stole WoW's UI, almost pixel for pixel.
Just a little too obvious. |

Gamers are mostly a smart bunch and can spot a cheap knockoff imitation of something in an instant..
Alganon's just trying to ride WoW's coattails and get their sloppy seconds b/c IMHO it can't stand on it's own.
"Is it fun"? David Allen asks but only someone who's a WoW player OR has already played Alganon can reliably answer that question. New players hearing that "It's just like WoW" might be duped in to playing it as a cheaper alternative (literally).
David Allen also says; "They compare these surface elements and make a list of things they find similar. Even when they do enter the game, they do so with the goal of finding similarities." Well, Duh, is this guy retarded?, OF COURSE people will compare it b/c WoW is the yardstick by which ALL other MMORPG's from he last 7+ years have been measured. That's inevitable and if this guy can't or doesn't want to see that his game was deliberately created to walk, talk and act like WoW then he's an even bigger tool then his game is..
The very fact that it's considered a WoW clone by many makes this a title to avoid for me but I'm certain that they will get sales....but will they be enough to make the game profitable enough to survive?
Time will tell I guess. |
