What? You need the name of a title to convince you that it's a successor? Look at the features, look at the playstyle, look at the developer. So it doesn't have the BF3 label, big deal. It's not a real PC game, it's a jacked up console shooter; features and playstyle don't compare; DICE rolled over long ago and offered their ass to EA; despite your breathless boostering it will probably never have mods and mod tools.
The Battlefield series on PC reached its peak with 2142. There'll be no successor.
I'm looking forward to this more now than ever since MW2 is a bust for the PC.
I think that speaks volumes. You're a COD player jonesing for a fix, not a true Battlefield player.

I watched some videos on youtube - this game looks great, like BF2 with full building destruction. What's not to like?

I care, because it looks like BC2 for PC is shaping up to be a more noteworthy successor to BF2 than was first expected
Umm, no. Ummm, yes. What? You need the name of a title to convince you that it's a successor? Look at the features, look at the playstyle, look at the developer. So it doesn't have the BF3 label, big deal.
I'm with LittleMe. I'm looking forward to this more now than ever since MW2 is a bust for the PC. |

| Really hope they release mod tools for this, I remember having a ton of fun with BF mods. The early versions of Desert Combat were pretty rough but it eventually turned into one of the most polished mods I've seen produced. |

He also says they haven't ruled out releasing modding tools for the PC edition, but that this is "really, really complicated." Well duh! Making games is complicated too, but you obviously have overcome that obstacle. At least they didn't say no - if they see there is a big audience on the PC, they very well might release mod tools, If they understand the PC market as much as they claim, then they clearly know how releasing mod tools has the potential to grow an audience and keep a game relevant for a long time, which is definitely in their best interest.
If it is a flop, then I could see why mod tools might be considered a waste of time, though they still might lead to a bigger audience down the road. |

| These days if you get dedicated server for the PC version and MOD tools it's like 2002 all over again. |

I care, because it looks like BC2 for PC is shaping up to be a more noteworthy successor to BF2 than was first expected. Mod tools, dedicated servers, etc etc.. There's the potential here for a great PC game, even though it will be multi-platform.
This is good news. Thanks DICE. Mod tools are important, and even if they are buggy and difficult to work with, that's much better than nothing at all.
