Because it would directly compete with their MMO and because they wanted to deliver this game in less than a year?
You are aware they did this whole game in less than year, right?
You're also aware it's $20 not, $40, $60, etc.? It's a budget title and they made it very clear from day one that it would not have multiplayer. I was not looking for factual reasons! I'm quite aware that this was a strategic choice by the developers. I don't care. This is just how I feel about the game. This game with 4-8 player coop would be the sweetest game in a long time for me. The absense of that feature made it far less interesting for me.
You think I care about reasons? I'm just saying, it would have been superawsome, and I would have gladly payed full-price for it. And I know what it costs, I bought it on release-day.
Oh, and I dig how they cared more about solid gameplay than Crysis-graphics. Who cares about graphics? This thing runs on my netbook! |

Wish the 'I can't believe there is no coop' would give it a rest already. Yes, it would be nice if the game had it, or if they added it. The game wouldn't have been made if they had. Now that it's selling so well, hopefully they will be able to get it in before the MMO release. I doubt they'll do it. They plainly said that doing that would compete with their MMO title and they have no resources to do it anyway (they're all focused on the MMO title).
With that said, there are already community members on the forums that hacking a form of multiplayer into the game via modding. |

I'd love to see a MP version come out in a year.. maybe add 1 more class too.. it'd sell like hotcakes! very interested in their mmo based on this title.
I also dislike the damn "i must loot everything to get to the one good item" issue.. and lack of bag space in general. I want an autoloot feature for my pet too. |

I can't BELIEVE they didn't add 4-8 player coop support. They had less than a year to get this game out and no money to do that with.

I like the game, but I really really really wish it had multiplayer. I know they're moving onto an MMO next, but I wish they'd just forgo MMO and just do standard 4-8 player mp like good old diablo. Same here! Screw MMO, I can't BELIEVE they didn't add 4-8 player coop support. :(((( |

I've been enjoying the game.
Another bug I've seen (I suppose I really should report it in game forum), is that the defensive spell skill for health drain (yes its classified as defensive) does NOT enhance the spell. Lvl1 of the lvl1 version of the spell does 3 hp health drain but should do 5hp drain when 1 skill point into defensive skills. I've checked both display and the actual HP counter to verify this.
And yeah for $20 this is a great game.

Torchlight is very immersive, and I hope to see several patches and DLC pay to update to new maps and dungeons, and loot! Currently, after level 30-35, when you finish the main story, it has little replayability to me, and that's a dangerous sign to the developers, take note.
Definitely feels like a $20 game, but alas, the best $20 game in existance. Dungeon Seige2 for me was still far more stellar, but don't get me wrong, I am loving Torchlight. Just needs more variety, and randome monster movement and groups. Game is a little predictable. |

Played for a little while, it's a solid game. Load times are fast here, so no complaints from me. Haven't noticed any bugs or glitches so far either.
Amazed what this developer managed to do, compared to other big studios that release compressed shit, neatly crammed into a nice case. |

| That's a really great Q&A on TTH. Looks like they've got some good ideas for how they want to handle the MMO. I'm kind of excited too, about getting hold of the editor. It looks fairly simple and could probably produce some great mods. |

Right now you can't even leave it, as most times you can't get to the gems, gold or rare/uniques without looting the commons because the name boxes overlaps so much.
Yeah that's really my big peeve with the game too. It drops a purple underneath 587 health potions and a wooden bow. I only want that damn purple, and yet I can't get it to hover to the top so I can click on it. Argh...
Load times are pretty long for what it's actually loading. I mean, the town takes like 6 seconds to load. Wtf is it loading?? Crysis loads a level in like 10 seconds!

Well that's obviously what we all do. But there is just so much of it on screen. Right now you can't even leave it, as most times you can't get to the gems, gold or rare/uniques without looting the commons because the name boxes overlaps so much.

| I just shift-click all the white shit and let my pet go get it. Then he goes off to sell it. Kind of annoying having to click through it all, but not too bad. Maybe having a pet auto-loot setting would work. "Pick up all items lower than X quality." That'd be nice. |

I've seen a lot of complaints about load times, here and on the Runic forums, but the only load time that takes more than a few seconds for me is the initial launch of the game.
I agree on too much loot, they should simply do away with the White loot drops, and up the value of all the others slightly to compensate. It's really just too much at times (ok, all the time). At least in Titan Quest you could filter out the lower tier items from displaying.

| I'm really digging this game. Load times do suck, but otherwise, the only issue i have with it is the amount of loot being dropped. i wouldn't be opposed to that slimming down some. |
