Sigh. So in a combat situation, exposing your body around a corner makes sense to you? Where do you people come from?
I come form a world where I have never been in a combat situation, but I have played many computer games over the years and although I like to be able to learn/go prone (or even porn) it anit the be all and end all, It's just a game.
I wonder if what they are getting at is that with desctable terrain, it makes way to many peices of debry that would make everyone crawling around on their belly a must, which would completly change the feel of the game that they where going for. |

Personally, lean and prone are right at the bottom of things I consider important. Their inclusion doesn't concern me, at least not with the implementations I've seen - lean in STALKER was a joke. What was wrong with STALKER's implementation? I thought it worked fine. The ability to lean and go prone means you can effectively use more things as cover. This results in more dynamic gameplay. This is also infinitely better than arbitrary cover systems that only let you use specific objects as cover. |

You know in Crysis Warhead you can lean while you're prone! Woot! |

No Prone! How could they turn their back on the PC community that helped make it what it is! Are they trying to turn us all into console fan boys?
How can I prove I'm 29 years old over the internet if I can't prone! How can they do this to clans running crawl combat servers like "Hardcore Prone". I loved playing there! Now I have to play with 6 year old kids who can only stand, run and crouch!
This can not happen! I call for a boycott and a petition!
...couldn't help myself, that was just too fun. |

No prone, no standing, no aiming, auto aim enabled.
May as well just have the game play itself these days. Oh, come on. Lacking prone doesn't make a game bad or inherently dumbed down. I haven't seen prone or lean implemented in such a way that it fundamentally changed the gameplay - most games that do use it have a terrible implementation. I'd much rather developers tackle the real issues; I mean, AI in games has barely progressed at all; and animations, as characters still float, clip the environment or themselves and lack any physics awareness of the world around them. Saying that, it does seem silly that developers find it so hard to implement leaning or prone. I would have thought most could implement it within a couple of days in amongst other tasks.
Personally, lean and prone are right at the bottom of things I consider important. Their inclusion doesn't concern me, at least not with the implementations I've seen - lean in STALKER was a joke. And when games like ArmA II can't even make walking feel right I couldn't give a shit about all the other things they've added for "realism". On this issue I really do think that people are quite whiny. |

May as well just have the game play itself these days. Too many game devs act like everyone playing the game is 6 years old! Typical. |

So if you're taking fire behind a knee-high wall, you won't be able to take full cover? You'll just get your head blown off! Grrrrrrr!
Oh wait a minute, that's just for the console version. Whew.

as much as it sucks to have any features cut, I will not miss prone or "FUCKING PRONING SCRUBS!" (I played a lot of DOD back in the day)

*cues SIXAXIS and Natal advertisements* It's like you're really leaning! How many FPS games on the PS3 have leaning enabled through sixaxis?
will developers have the balls to implement real gameplay features using Natal when only a handful of people own one?

Given all the problems it has caused them with Battlefield 2 it's no wonder they don't want prone in the game.
There probably won't be any weapon sway either, Bad Company is very much an arcade driven shooter If they go much further, they'll need to change the uniform to redcoats and get the two sides to march at each other in lines... |
