The whole "no dedicated servers" thing is a bit misleading. The game will run on dedicated servers run by IW through IWNet, only private matches with mods if available and alterations will need peer-to-peer. This was confirmed in the podcast, he said IWNet will host public matches, they even asked him twice to be sure.
As a more casual multiplayer gamer this actually appeals to me... a battle.net for CoD? Awesome. I know why the hardcore are angry though, and if I transfer their thinking to RPGs and such I suddenly get very mad in support of them, because simplifying games sucks, even if in this case I like it.
Also I see a lot of people saying "NO MODS" which was not said, he stated he didn't know the details of mod support. I think it is highly likely that similar to Left 4 Dead mods will exist, but only in private matches off IW's servers.
So, not the end of the world at all like a small minority claim, but it does suck.
