Arkham Asylum Free DLC Released

The promised first free DLC for the Windows edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum is now available, according to Big Download, who say the issues that hindered the release have been ironed out. The pack includes a pair of challenge maps for about a 110 MB download, which must be acquired through the Games for Windows LIVE Marketplace.

Demo was decent for me with a three buttons PS/2 mouse and PC104 keyboard. I can't use video game controllers due to my disabilities (e.g., can't hold them right and in air).

I am happy with the mouse and keyboard controls as well. I own a 360 controller, but I prefer the m/kb scheme, so unless the controls are terrible, I stick with that.

M/KB work well and are fun for me. The combat doesn't require a lot of buttons.

mouse and keyboard on this game would be horrible... its made for a gamepad

Oh really? Strange how well it worked with a mouse and keyboard setup then.

Uh, no it's not. Plenty of people played the demo fine with M/KB. I'm playing the full game fine with M/KB. 30 hit chains aren't hard.

Game is amazing, but mostly for the exploration and campaign... the challenge maps don't interest me as much.

If they ever release purchase DLC, I would love to see mini-stories, like chasing Mad Hatter through a factory or something.

Any suggestions on how I can run the game. I realize I have a low end system.

ThinkPad T60: Core Duo 2 ghz, 2 gig RAM, ATI X1400

Am I screwed?

Except you can pirate it. It's already been cracked and is widely available across the interwebs. Anybody who can use a torrent can pirate the game.

Well, I see it's the 19th so I suppose you are just taking part in talk like a pirate day

Most likely, for every person who boycotts their product, they are just as likely to get some one who would have pirated it but can't. (cos they are just that lame that a minimal copy protection follies them)

As for the game itself, I'm liking it. The combat has a surprising amount of depth if you play on Hard and they did a great job with the ambience. I wish the stealth and detective elements were more fleshed out but they are decent enough. The game is also pretty faithful to the comics, though with some exceptions (like Bane becoming taller when using venom).

Sorry if I'm derailing the whole 4 install limit topic a bit here.

I just have to say that I'm having a freaking blast with Batman:AA. I'm not really a Batman or DC fan, but this game feels like an extension of a comic book as much as it does a game. I had a hard time deciding between PC and PS3, decided to go with PC because of the lower cost and enhanced textures... instead of the exclusive DLC going to PS3.

The DLC isn't that hard to install, but yeah, I'd rather it let steam auto download it or have other options. It is pretty sad that I have 2 extra apps running this game (steam and GFWL) but w/e. So yeah, I'm not a fan of GFWL. I'm not exactly a fan of install limits either but can understand them to a degree. This is just one of those instances I can forget about all of that BS and just really enjoy myself getting lost in a great game.

It's a small barrier to some of those who may wish to tutoo with the software in a way the the developer and/or publishers may find out of the bounds of what the would be comftable with from their side of the buy/sell relationship.

If therearesomethingforyou dose not want to buy their product for some pretty silly reason, I don't think they will care that much.

I don't know thought, just one person view.

What's the point of having such a generous activation limit? You might as well just take it off.

Retail version has no activation limits. On Steam:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/35010/

3rd-party DRM: SecuROM™
4 per month machine activation limit
Kinda stupid? Yeah. Does this actually affect any single reasonable person on the face of this earth? Hardly. Who the hell activates their game every single week?

I was just about to grab this game on Steam until I noticed the limited activations - not only does it limit the number of installs but it limits the number of times you can use the revoke tool in a month
You serious? That's the dumbest shit ever. Oh well, got this on Xbox so I don't need to worry about stupid crap like that.

Ant... so far it's an incredible game. Granted you will hear alot about 1 button combat, but it's alot deeper then that. I HIGHLY suggest playing it with some sort of gamepad, as the PC controls aren't bad, it would just be easier with some of the items/movement to use one.
