Avatar: The Game Trailer

The GamesCom debut trailer for James Cameron's Avatar: The Game is now available on GameTrailers.com, showing Ubisoft's upcoming game tie-in with the Avatar motion picture. The clip offers fairly stunning imagery, all the more impressive as it's said to be all in-game footage. As already mentioned, the trailer for the movie itself is online, as are some screenshots from the game. Both the game and the movie are due this coming December.

At least it's not as bad as Disney's The Lion King.

beat me to it..

i saw a split screen comparison between the opening for that and "Kimba the White Lion".. it was fucking the same camera angles, the same scenes, the same sequence, etc. really disgusting - and the japanese company was like "oh its an honor for disney to rip us off" wtf?

Go forth, and kill!

The story seems pretty hackyned. I'm sure I'll see it for the visuals, but the whole getting gay with kids eco friendly angle? No thanks.

Hmm, I thought the CG was pretty amazing, really. FAR better than King Kong's, that's for sure.
Well, based on what I've seen, I'll still see the movie and play the game, regardless of hype/reviews

The CGI in the HD trailer looked terrible. The comparisons to Pocahontas and FernGully, to me, are 100% spot on. I'd add Roger Rabbit to that, in that the alien character design looks like something out of an animated movie but they're next to real actors. To me it kills immersion. They look too much like cartoons to work.

Then there's the whole plot centering around an evil white army coming in and exploiting/destroying the a tribal culture in tune with nature and having their technology be their downfall. Haven't we seen that movie and read that book very often in the past 8 years

It does look good, but looking pretty alone doesn't make for a good game, or a good movie.

I hope there's some actual GAME behind it.

As for the whole "People will see things they've never seen before" broohaha, please. 99% of the creature and character designs I saw were plain ripped off from other games/movies.

Also, I shudder to think what this will need to run well. GTX295 in SLI?

Looks great IMO.

The creatures/characters are a little low detail but that's only because there's so much stuff goin on at one time
