Sierra Titles on Steam

Steam News has word that Activision has added five new titles to the service, and all five are on sale for 25% off between now and July 30. Aces of the Galaxy, TimeShift, and 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures are now available, as well as Sierra classics the King's Quest Collection and the Space Quest Collection. Both Sierra collections list Windows 2000/XP as a system requirement, though The King's Quest Collection has a note saying "Some games in this collection may run under Windows XP 64 and Vista 32/64, but are not officially supported."

No official 64-bit support? Boo. And with Windows 7 coming out, I'm thinking not many people will still be running 2000/XP, let alone 32-bit.

That was from SQ1 wasn't it?

word.. that puzzle stumped me for quite a bit - that was back in the day where you could miss something early in the game then much later you would be completely fucked for it and have to start over

plus its alot more difficult to figure out when its a text parser and not some icon based bullshit that you can just mouse over the screen until something is active

i stopped playing sierra games when they dropped the text parser. it was my first experience of games being "dumbed down", i saw the trend and i knew it was gonna suck even harder in the future

LucasArts and Sierra release all their old adventures?

What is this late 80's early 90's?

Heir Today Gone Tomorrow was my favorite Sierra.
Tie for Fate of Atlantis and DOTT for LucasArts.

<insert vulgar poddy mouth opening statement or one liner>

<insert moronic slam that is half baked and most likely false and due to the ignorance of the poster>

<insert vulgar poddy mouthed slam against Steam>

<insert one more pointless display of Vulgar poddy mouthed ignorance on the way out>

Thus 2/3 of the idiotic posts by people at Blues news.

Funny how no body thinks its even odd anymore that most youth and adults are completely foul mouthed, vulgar and rude.

Don't forget there are fan made VGA remakes of KQ 1-3 that are FANTASTIC! (and free)

If you have not tried these and you liked kings quest, you MUST go and play them now!

AGD did these:
http://www.agdinteractive.com/games/games.html
KQ1 is an EXACT replica of the original, but includes full VGA and full speech (including Josh Mandel, the original Sierra King Graham voice).
KQ2 adds a bunch of content to the original KQ2, and IMHO, its as good or better than sierra quest stuff at thier prime. When I went and replayed the original KQ2 before I played the remake, I felt Sierra's version was kinda sparse. The remake really feels like a Sierra game, like what it should have been. This remake is ALSO full VGA and full voice with Josh Mandel.

IA did this:
http://www.infamous-adventures.com/kq3/
KQ3 is another exact replica of the original, still full VGA and full Voice (still including Josh Mandel for the King), but now also includes the bad guy voice of the guy who did Mordack in KQ 5

All of these three meet or exceed the highest Sierra quality (I've played and finished them all as well as all the Sierra originals and these impress me very much)

As the linked page in blues post says:

Quest for the Crown
Romancing the Throne
To Heir is Human.
The Perils of Rosella
Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder
Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow
The Princeless Bride

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King's_Quest
Says thats 1-7, and 8 is basically Mask for Eternity.
Although they should include that for completition sake (probably had problems getting it to run in XP?) its not really usually considered much of a kings quest game. Its Sierra's attempt to bring 3d to the kings quest universe. I played it and beat it when it came out and was very unimpressed. Its definately not a traditional kings quest adventure game. I'd replay the others, I wouldn't bother replaying that one.
Here's some screenshots of 8:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/kings-quest-mask-of-eternity/screenshots

Interestingly enough wiki says this:
"2006 compilation re-release

In September 2006 Vivendi Universal released King's Quest Collection, a compilation CD for Windows XP encompassing games I-VII. Rather than porting the games directly, however, this release uses the original versions running under the DosBox emulator and a Windows frontend. As a result, it is also possible to run King's Quest I-VI on other platforms with a little tweaking and ports of DosBox. (King's Quest VII runs natively on Windows)

Missing in the collection are the original AGI version of King's Quest 1, as well as the Windows CD version of King's Quest VI with high-resolution character art (some of the original Windows files were removed from this release).
"

This is likely whats being sold. And if thats the case and they use dosbox, there's NO reason why it can't work in vista or windows 7 or anything
