he is only about 2.5 hours from where i live - so it is big news over here. I live in Dayton and when he shot at 2 cars in Jeffersonville(40miles away) we thought he was gonna move down here. I also hope they get him, we have a lot of overpasses and bridges here too. And rush hour is bad enough without having some nutcase shooting at you. |

Do we know how fast a human body decomposes in space? NOT YET WE DON'T! If these guys are going to be worthless and contribute nothing to society, I say let's put them to good use. I like your way of thinking nin.
After "seeing" those digital pictures of her being kidnapped, I got mad and wondered what goes through those type of peoples minds.X| Not that "hearing" about a child being kidnapped is any different.
Being the father of two daughters, 23 and 18, I can think of some REALLY gross and nasty things to do to him. The first thing they should do is let the father at him and step back out of the way and turn their back.
Just my opinion..... |

Actually, the HIGH is 46. I know I don't post that much and I was real busy yesterday so I didn't get to read Blues News, but I am 47.
Does that change the average at all? |

I have never heard it called that either. Must be a north-eastern thing We've always called them that here in southwest Ohio. A-pillar, B-pillar and C-pillar and we put a "drive" or "pass" in front of them to indicate which side. Have to do that for warranty purposes. |

Twenty years ago today this tele-movie premiered.
I feel old. Everytime I saw that Arby's commercial with the guy standing in the middle of the intersection and yelling "Where is everybody?!", I thought of Lithgow saying "....is there anybody out there? Anyone at all?"
And Bronco, you're not getting old, you're gaining experience.
/me 18yrs old with 29yrs experience. |

So Trymeyes, does this sound right to you after only 30,000 miles? New brakes? Probably only shoes... but still, $1,445 sounds a little excessive to me.
I guess we'd have to know what kind of car Blue drives and how much the state inspection runs though. It does sound High to me, unless he rides the brakes and drives in the city, it's been my expereince that brakes will last longer than 30k.
A major tune up at 30k? Most cars built since 1998 will go about 60k before even needing spark plugs. The ones built since about 2001 will go to 100k miles. You should still change your fuel filter every 30k of so. A throttle body cleaning? Unless you can feel the gas pedal sticking when you give it gas, that shouldn't need to be done!
Blue, give me the $1400 and I'll detail your car 4 times for a month! What make, model, and year of car do you have?
edit-I can't spell little words

BubbleMage..... thank you for clarifying your position.
After reading your post I agree with you, I too have built my own computers. The first one took some time and study, the subsequent ones went much faster.
You are correct, all cars are built on the same principle, the dirrerent manufacturers just add their own ideas to them. If you study and work on your own car enough, you will get good at fixing it, and people should do that, and leave the COMPLEX stuff to me.
And you don't know how right you are when you say they are COMPLEX, some of them have up to 10 or more modules(computers) all talking to each other.
Sorry if I misunderstood your statement, it's just that I hear it all the time, "Anyone can fix a car" and it's just not true, without clarifying THAT statement.
I apologize for jumping down your throat. |

Go talk to your average mechanic at a dealership for 10 minutes, and you'll walk away convinced you're one of the smartest people ever born You must have talked to the lube boy who likes to call himself an "Automotive Technician" when he is not!
I have been in the automotive repair business for almost 30 years and at 3 dealerships. I am a master tech in driveline repair, a specialist in diesel drivability(sp?) and repair and seem to get the jobs that other technicians can't or won't do. I also have around $80,000 or so invested in my tools and hundreds of hours in training and schooling over those 27 years, you never stop learning in this business.
I do believe that everyone who owns a vehicle should be able to do preventive maintenance on it, just so you know what you vehicle is suppose to sound like when it's working properly.
If I sound like I'm PISSED OFF, I AM!!!X|
The dealership I'm at is rather slow right now and I read OoTB everyday.......arrgghhhhh.....can't think....too mad
Thanks Enahs and FourPak for your kind thoughts.
Being an Automotive Technician is a thankless job to most of the public, however, I am very good at what I do and treat every vehicle that I work on as if it was my own. The customer WILL NOT get it back till I'm satisfied that it's fixed RIGHT.
Thanks for letting me rant.... I feel a lot better now. |

It's pretty cool to see an item that I've actually seen on my favorite web site. I am definitly not a expert, but I can tell you it looks real old. I saw it at the Dayton Air Show this past July. It's also cool to see a hometown company in OoTB. |
