games with ads |
Nov 15, 2007, 22:47 |
Shok |
|

Consumers in general are complete idiots, but hopefully some common sense can kick in if it gets to the point where we are paying $70 or more for games loaded with ads. I would hope us gamers would revolt and refuse to let this happen but I have to agree. There are more idiot consumers out there than ones that feel any obligation to fight it from happening.

copy protection |

Does anyone know if they loosened up the copy protection on this? I bought the original CoH but haven't patched anything to do with OF since it requires CD and internet active to allow gameplay. No thanks I'll keep my money and pass until this bullshit copy protection is removed.

I like gametap for the convenience and savings (somewhat) from impulse game buying. I agree that it has drawbacks though; for some crazy reason the fully patched versions of games is not always what you get. Apparently whatever the publisher sends them is what they put on. So some games are un-patched.

I liked the demo even though it was linear. The time stop effects where you can see every rain drop was just fantastic.
Think the Matrix bullet time rain fight sequence.

Die Hard DVD |

From the process described in the article it sounds like some kind of ripping utility rips the DVD to a portable format. Seems kind of silly requiring the owner to enter a 16 digit serial number though.
I'll just keep using my own ripper/encoder but thanks for the option Fox...

doesn't remove CP |

At first I thought this was a patch that removed copy protection altogether. Oh well wishful thinking. I guess that won't be released for a couple of years.
The only issue I had with this game was a corrupt install the first time I installed it. Otherwise everything has worked fine. Copy protection crap and all.

Re: halo 3 reviews |

Sorry, some of us were around when the only control scheme for a FPS was a mouse and keyboard. No matter how much I try I cannot aim as accurate with a gamepad. I own an X-box and bought Halo 2 and I think I got about 1/3 of the way through that game before I lost interest. It's not that Halo is bad it's just that it's not very different enough for PC gamers to really care.
I might still buy a 360 to play mass effect though...

I hate DRM as much as the next guy but something of this quality is worth a little inconvenience these days where pirated single player games are the norm.
I had my own problems with Bioshock. The first time it installed it had corrupt files somewhere that caused crashes every time I tried to hack something in the game. After uninstalling, defragging, and reinstalling, it runs great now.

Any alternative to buying one of Codemaster's games and not having to install starforce is great news! Errr, I assume starforce isn't installed via gametap right?

I doubt Valve would let you just buy TF2 on steam, more likely you will need to buy the orange box retail or via steam.
EDIT: you young whipper-snappers post too fast!

I wonder if my old 1541 drive will work on those new Commodores? Boy I'd hate to work at their tech support center.
