And WoW isn't even a free to play game! That is some ridiculous pricing there.

I don't even think it looks that great /shrug

News Comments > GTA: Episodes From Liberty City Ships
7. Re: Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City Apr 13, 2010, 11:26 Shok

Thanks guys. I don't think I'll be picking up GTA IV anytime soon then; I prefer action eye candy to story and missions.

I guess I can see myself getting bored of JC2 also. The PC vehicle controls can be squirrely unless you use a 360 controller (or in my case a PS3 controller with 360 emulator software). I couldn't fly planes at all with keyboard and mouse but they are manageable with a controller.

Did I mention I love the JC2 engine?? Some dev needs to make a proper flight sim with it. An update to Longbow 2 with this engine would be awesome. Nap of the earth flying and the sensation of speed is just perfect for a heli sim.

3. GTA4 vs. JC2 Apr 13, 2010, 10:57 Shok

So I never really was "in" to sandbox games that GTA pioneered. But last weekend I started playing Just Cause 2. Man, what an open ended game it is. The engine is just phenomenal going from flying a jet up in the clouds with an amazing sense of speed at one moment and then seemlessly jumping from rooftop to rooftop like spiderman the next.

Anyway, how is GTA4 compared to JC2 for those who have played them both? Is the GTA4 engine anything like JC2's? JC2 has some amazing draw distance or is it just a trick they use to "billboard" the world and make it look like you can see for miles.

I haven't been this crazy about a game in years...

I'll buy this when it's in the bargain bin like I did for DCS:Blackshark. I won't pay more than $20 for DRM'd software no matter how good the game is.

2. Re: Guitar Hero Patent Case Feb 23, 2010, 13:46 Shok

This is a bit different than a patent troll who is claiming to own a patent that Activision has violated. I hate patent trolls too but I don't think it's right for companies to mark products with a patent or patent pending in which the patent has nothing to do with the product.

Whenever I see Brian Fargo I always think of the original Bard's tale. I know it aged pretty badly but back in the day I loved me some bard's tale...err that came out wrong.

3. Roku Feb 23, 2010, 10:57 Shok

Last X-mas I bought my parents a roku to stream Netflix to on the TV and they love it. Amazingly my 74 year old mother has no problem navigating Netflix's website to put movies in her queue to watch instantly. The roku has many other web "channels" also but getting them comfortable watching Netflix movies was more than enough for me...

If the game is good enough, the pirates will find a way and rip out the DRM for those of us without 24/7 internet. I hope Sh5 is good, but I will not support a publisher who cripples their games like this. I want to be able to play my games 5,10,25 years in the future and not have to worry about a company server being around to let me know it's ok.

It's really just 3 certs since the MCP "cert" only means you passed any cert test.

Yeah, if it was in the U.S. it would probably be tried in East Texas where Hollywood would win it easily.

No flash support really ruins it as a web browser for me. And it doesn't multitask? wtf?

I'm sure the mindless public will buy tons of them. iWon't

I was planning to buy Silent Hunter 5 but I doubt I will now. I can't always get online where I live so I guess I'll just wait for the pirates to make it offline only.

Good job UBISOFT!

/rant I would have bought Blackshark if the DRM wasn't so draconian with limited activations and such. I don't care if there are 8 or 10 or 20 activations, the pirates have ZERO and no starforce drivers on their computer... /rant
