Have you tried the remake? I downloaded it a while ago and couldn't get into it since it was still a 2d cockpit but it does remain pretty faithful to the original:

http://privateer.sourceforge.net/

Other than that I can't really think of anything. Maybe Freespace 2 for the combat part but I haven't played it enough to know if it has missions like Privateer did.

Yeah I just see a 360 box in that picture. They could have had the ultimate DRM with a PC version though; bundle that USB drive and make it a dongle

It uses Ogre3d (http://www.ogre3d.org/) for its graphic engine. What a long way that open source 3d engine has come.

Haha, agreed. Maybe that's what Ubisoft thinks PC gamers are like though.

I can envision consoles actually having RTS games if this kind of input device goes mainstream.

@Frosty:

after visiting a website or opening a file containing a trojan virus.

I take it reading comprehension isn't your strong point or you would understand Blizzard can't control stupid people/kids downloading smiley browser addons and whatnot and infecting their computers with trojans.

Maybe I'm the only one that thinks the graphics look like crap?

No, it's not you. I've said this before in another thread on another trailer for this game.

It's a console port. If the controls and interface don't suck on the PC I will be surprised...

Wow 10 years since EQ was released and they're still releasing expansions. Lol I wonder if you can still kill Lockjaw in South Ro? and get a lockjaw vest. I'll never forget some game experiences...and after 10 years there's got to be like 10 million Lockjaw vests out there rofl!

I took advantage of the pre-order special gogamer had a few weeks ago for $30 on this game. It's gotten decent reviews so far so I'm glad I pre-ordered.

What was that gameplay footage from? The Wii? Seriously, those graphics looked like something from the dreamcast. Ughh.

I imagine so. The heavy DRM kept me from buying this one. Maybe in a year or so when it's patched and sanitized of DRM I will buy it online.

7. Re: 2 Million BF Heroes, Update Next Week Sep 25, 2009, 12:47 Shok

I am also one of the 2 million who signed up for BF Heroes and uninstalled it shortly thereafter.

On the other hand, that 7 year old game, BF1942, still has a decent amount of servers and although it is frustrating as hell when asshats do certain things like grenade spamming and spawn/plane camping, it's still a blast to play.

12. Re: WoW and Innovation Sep 15, 2009, 13:35 Shok

WoW had the innovative yellow question marks and exclamation points to make questing easier!

Seriously, though, the one thing that sold me on WoW after playing Everquest for years was the continuous world. Not having to face a "Loading, please wait..." message every time I went from world zone to world zone really rocks. Every time I tried to go back to EQ I just couldn't because I missed the continuous zones.

3. CGW Aug 3, 2009, 09:05 Shok

I loved reading CGW way back in the 80's and 90's. Especially before the internet hit, I made my game buying purchases based on CGW reviews.

There's an awesome database of old CGW mags:

http://cgw.vintagegaming.org/index.php

I miss the old games after reading some of those reviews.

Well, when (and if) they remove the DRM, I might consider buying this game. Until then, no sale.

Don't hold your breath. I'm still waiting for the DRM from Bioshock to be completely removed like Levine promised. ( http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/48641 ) It's been almost 2 years now...
