I can only imagine the amount of pimple faced high school kewl doods that would be playing a Halo MMO. WoW is bad enough but a Halo WoW would just attract all the little console kiddies like flies to well, appropriately, shit.

Peter if you're reading all you have to do is remake Populous 1. Not Populous 2 or Populous 3d or whatever just Populous 1 maybe make it isometric 3d like Civ4 did 3d. Update the controls so mouse uses wheel and 3 buttons. Keep gameplay. People will buy it! Please? I don't want big furry creatures like Black and White just Populous remade. hey that's the name for you: Populous Remade. There I just saved you marketing $$

The thing is, does this DRM implementation hinder piracy of this game at all? After quick check of "warez" scene it doesn't seem so. The 3 activation limit doesn't hinder piracy at all. Like someone else in this thread pointed out they should have just tied the install to the online account like the hundreds of other pc games do with online multiplayer content. Having an online account in spore does differ from the pirated version though as it allows you to download other users' spore creations from "the cloud". The 3 activation limit just seems to be a way to eliminate 3rd party sales of games and thus pisses of the status quo of the pc gamer population.
To tell you the truth I'd be more angry if it was a game I cared about playing. It's an oversimplified kids game and adult gamers with any kind of attention span tire of it quickly.

I still say that is something that is missing in that StarDock gamer's bill of rights; gamers should have the right to sell their used games and not have them crippled by a non-transferable license.
Now back to your regularly scheduled bitch-fest about DRM...

What I don't understand is that Maxis hires the main designer of Civ4, Soren Johnson, and Spore's strategy game is this watered down joke pre-teen game? I guess he just wanted an easy project to work on or something.

Not buying this because of the activation DRM. Maybe if it comes to steam I'll consider. Same with mass effect.

oh come on, people who have no net connection in this day & age really dont belong on a computer I never heard such tripe. Yes but there are some remote military bases where the firewall for public net access blocks everything but port 80 & 443. Steam doesn't work nor do many DRM activation schemes. For a single player game that is bought on DVD why is it asking too much to install without net access? Why do legitimate buyers have to risk a virus infection by downloading a crack that does exactly that?

I'm old too. My MUD was Realms of Despair and I played it around 95 or so. They must have sold the domain recently; they used to be at game.org. RoD is still going apparently but I haven't played in a decade at least.

I only read The Last Wish. I wasn't sure there were any other books translated so I'll have to go look for them now.
I never finished the game back when it first came out and have been waiting for the content patch before I tried it again. I just finished the book a few weeks ago. It's a good read and was hard to put down. My only fault with it I suppose is that it felt kind of fragmented in the beginning like a collection of short stories instead of a normal novel.
I don't remember the game a whole lot so can't comment on whether the book helps for gameplay. It adds to the game just understanding the world and Gerault's chosen life as a witcher.

Developers are taking all kinds of chances on innovating FPS games. One underwater FPS game being turned down wouldn't have meant jack.
Remember that little game called Portal Ken? While not a typical FPS, it was still a FPS...

I get carpal tunnel just reading about all the pointless clicking that will be required for these achievements. I guess an MMOG without pointless grinding and clicking just wouldn't be an MMOG though.

From the interview it sounds like all the cross platform tools made it easier to develop for consoles while having something also that works on PC's. Their thinking was probably: Screw dx10 since pc gamers are all pirates anyway, we'll just give them whatever is easiest to convert from our console code!

You either need to invest in a good spell checker or use firefox (which has one built in) before you post on your website. It's very annoying reading that site with missing letters in words and sentences that don't make sense.
Myself, I'll stick to blues for all my gaming and PC news.
