And that's precisely why everyone should do at least one stint in a restaurant at some point in their lives. You then understand why not only tipping is necessary, but tipping well. Most people think a monkey could do it, but they really couldn't manage it if their very lives depended on it.

Tipping is only necessary because the restaurant industry discovered it could get out of paying it's employees by passing the responsibility on to the customer.

STFU Mr. Pink and tip!

I had never heard of a blue tongue skink until I saw this picture in a camera forum yesterday. No chance of any reptiles in my house though. The cat would have it in his teeth in seconds. We can't let him out on our screened in patio or he would be hunting lizards there too.

Are there actually businesses that use Windows 8? Training users for the Metro paradigm shift is pointless. They won't be stopping support of Win7 until Win9+ is more business friendly...

Heck, the government is still barely migrated to Win7 as it is. Does MS honestly expect to stop support in 7 months?

And what about Outlaws?!?!?!

What about Outlaws indeed! Maybe it's just nostalgia but I like to believe that was one of the first great online FPS multiplayer games.

I only bought Spelunky when it was on sale on GoG.

On Steam I bought (so far):
The Last Federation - just because it's from Arcen games, who are still supporting AI War
Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons
Brutal Legend
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary - didn't own the DLC so wtf

DOS Gaming? Bought my first PC clone when I worked at Sears as a teenager in 1988 or so. It was a "laser" brand with an 8088 CPU with 40MB MFM hard drive and heavy ass sheet metal case. I went to a little mom and pop store to get an EGA add-on board for it.

I think one of the first games I fired up was Abrams Battle Tank then Populous, More Lemmings, Harpoon...all playable in DOS Box these days but just not the same as on a 60lb Sony Trinitron CRT.

Guys, I understand what a cameo is. They are usually done in comedies, or the way Stan Lee appears in the marvel movies. The "cameo-er(?)" generally has some considerably obvious frame of reference to the movie they appear in.

What I don't understand is how or why "Tom Cruise" makes a cameo in the star wars universe. It would be AWFUL. This is a considerably worse idea than say.... Jar-Jar.

Yeah the only thing worse I can think of is Tom Cruise as Jar-Jar.

News Comments > XCOM: Enemy Unknown for Linux Released
5. Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown for Linux Released Jun 19, 2014, 18:59 Shok

I've been dual booting Ubuntu 12.04 with Win7 over a year now. As far as gaming, I played a lot of WoW with 2 characters in separate wine instances. Doing the same on win7 would have been impossible without virtual machines and way more ram & resources used. The old thief games, system shock 2, and a lot of other older gog games run perfect under wine in linux as well. I think the experience is actually better than windows since they are in their own little wine prefix (virtual environment).

As for new games, I am more likely to buy a new game that supports linux than one that doesn't even though I use win7 more.

Pretty cool! Don't do like I did and use ALT-ENTER to go full screen though. Use the options menu in game to set it. Now to find my old X-com manual...

Airland Battle had a linux port also but it always got out of sync in multiplayer and/or crashed. They may have fixed it before Red Dragon came out. I never bought Red Dragon and am surprised they didn't have a linux version released until now unless they had to totally rewrite a lot of linux code.

So the new Thief is $15 on Steam today. Is it worth considering at that price or should I wait until it's 5 dolla?

I liked all the Star Trek series except DS9. It was too political and boring on one space station all the time instead of exploring new worlds.

Also, Enterprise was ok but kind of cheesy in parts (see Captain's beagle *groan*)
