That's a pretty steep goal for 3 days. Why do they need to do that? I didn't see anything skimming the KS page. Is it explained in the video?

It says 33 days when I visit the page (Deadline is FRIDAY JUL 6). Where's the 3 days coming from? I think there was a glitch in the Matrix...

Hah. Comes from me misreading apparently. Read it as June 6, rather than July 6. My mistake

Had laser eye surgery on Friday morning.

Lasek in one eye and Lasik in the other because of my dry eyes. Lasik is with the flap and Lasek is the surface treatment, the same laser was used and was a very quick painless process. I'm almost 20/20 already in the Lasik eye, a few more days and I'll be there. The Lasek eye has a medical contact on and is more of a week of recovery, that eye is currently pretty blurry but still probably not as bad as it was without my glasses before. I need to put a ton of eye drops in though... 4x steroid, 3x anti-bac, 1x anti-inflam and then artifical tears throughout the day as my eyes dry.

I'm still nervous about the end results but the doctor and his staff are extremely helpful.

Nice, I had Lasik on both eyes a couple of years ago. Best money I ever spent. I couldn't see the alarm clock in the morning without putting on my glasses, and now I am better than 20/20 in both eyes.

I was freaking out for a while too because I couldn't see very well afterwards, but it healed up nice. I'm sure yours will too.

Pretty much same experience for me, except I had PRK instead of Lasik. Better than 20/20 now too. Of course the doc said that my vision will still degrade as I get older, but I really couldn't care less. I haven't had to wear contacts or glasses since then (about 4 years ago now), and life is so much better

Hope it works out as well for you Seph!

So far, I think it's pretty damn good, actually. No port problems aside from the mouse sensitivity being a little wonky in menus (fine in game though). Very slick presentation and all that, which you'd expect from Rockstar.

Good prelim review there Aero. I loved the other games, so I'm gonna go ahead and pull the trigger now. Hopefully it'll be downloaded by the time I actually have some free time available tomorrow

Except nvidia drivers offer support for games MONTHS (or at least 2 weeks) before a release, while ATI drivers happen to do that months AFTER a release. Nvidia pushes even beta updates out if a game has a popular beta out of their normal update cycle.
No idea what you're talking about, as my ATI card runs everything I throw at it. Not sure what more they need to support.

My last few cards have been ATI. Aside from one that eventually had some sort of hardware issue and wouldn't go into 3d mode anymore (happened after I had already replaced it and put it in my wife's PC), I haven't had any problems. I just try to buy good cards and I don't upgrade my drivers unless I need to, and only after I do a little checking to make sure there are no major issues being reported for the current version.

I'm planning to buy a new card soon, and I'm on the fence now about which one to get. I usually buy a mid-range card, so there are good ones from both companies right now.

That's some of the craziest shit I've seen in a game... ever. Sounds like it may actually have more to do than Minecraft too, which I could never get into. I actually played Terraria a lot longer. I'm sure they could sell a bajillion copies like Minecraft if they want to.

Well, I just tried the Dragon's Dogma demo. I'm not sure about the game itself yet. Seemed a little different than the usual fare, but I forgot how much I hate playing any game that requires aim on a console. It was so annoying I just quit after dying to the Chimera thing in the first level. I'll wait for a PC version and try it then.

From what I've read, Namco isn't going to make any effort to adapt the controls to M/KB. In fact, they aren't going to make any effort for any PC-centric features. They've stated that the game is going to be exactly the same as the console versions.

They don't really have to do much to adapt it to the PC platform. I meant as long as they don't do something stupid like not having user customizable bindings and actual graphical options. They don't need to redo the user interface or something IMO.

I'm betting they do something stupid.

That said, I may have to fire up the XBox and check out the Dragon's Dogma demo. Haven't used my XBox in forever...

Yes they are, Rollinthundr said it just afew post ago about a class actition suit.

What you said is bullshit that dose not take into consdieration what others have said at all.

You should read and think about what others have posted.

Also, when you gonna ask your bro about his porn sites? Just ask him about Diabloxxxboys.co.tw, do it over sykpe and record it for extra lol.

Look I haven't been hacked, and don't take me out of context, what I said, is if it were this many hacks and accounts compromised, and it was any other company, like EA, people would be calling for lawsuits. Instead you get the usual Blizzard pole smokers.

As for Blizzard's security measures, they can't be all that good if their password algarhythem doesn't even take uppercase letters into account just as an example.

I'm a Blizz fan now? Maybe I should run out and buy D3...

Blizzard is responsible for the security of their own service. Yet people - like nin - twist the situation and blame the end user, despite equally high profile games like TF2 being unaffected.
Securing their service is one thing. Securing your PC to prevent people from stealing your credentials is something else entirely. They could make it somewhat more secure, sure. But then people will bitch about how they have to go through all these other steps just to login to a game. There's really no winning in this situation for Blizzard. There's a very large percentage of people that can't be bothered to learn even the basics of how to keep themselves safe online. They think that because they have some a/v software on their system that they should be safe. Can't really do much for people like that.

theyarecomingforyou wrote on May 30, 2012, 07:05:
Somebody logging in from a different computer from a different location should have triggered additional security measures - an obvious one being to send an email that must be accessed in order to access the account (ala Steam). Blizzard fucked this up on its own.
If they've rooted your PC, you've already lost. They know all your info, including IP address, and probably have access to your email account. Not sure if it's being done yet or not, but they could even use your own PC to login and steal your account.

It is not Blizzards job to keep trojans, backdoors and other malware off your brothers computer for him. That's his. Tell your brother to keep his various software like Flash, Windows Update etc up-to-date, get an authenticator and stay off porn/torrent sites.
You're really trying to play the "blame the victim" game? How pathetic and immature! You have absolutely no idea about his computing habits. Flash and Windows automatically update themselves and he doesn't use torrent sites (I have no intention of asking him about his porn habits); he also uses anti-virus / anti-malware software. None of the other games he plays have ever been hacked. Meanwhile the Diablo III forums are filled with posts about people who have had their accounts hacked. I also notice you ignored the fact that many people with an authenticator have had their accounts hacked.

If security is such an issue then they should have include an authenticator with the game and mandated its use. The reality is that Blizzard is not doing enough to secure its products when it knows that they are going to be targeted dramatically more than other games. I don't understand why people are trying to play the "defend the multi-billion dollar company" game when Blizzard has brought this upon itself by monetising the loot system and not adequately securing accounts.
It's not lightly that I would defend Blizzard, but in this case I think your brother is the one that screwed up for the most part. Security issues with this game are exactly the same as any other MMO. There may be more people trying to hack this one, but the methods are the same. If someone gets a keylogger or other form of malware onto your system, then you're going to lose your account. Use the authenticator if you want to protect yourself. Blizzard made them available, why didn't he use them if he values his stuff? I still haven't seen any confirmation of anyone using an authenticator getting hacked.

The cop thing kind of surprises me... not that he was speeding, but that he got his job back afterwards.

Getting caught going over 100MpH is a big deal. In most states they impound your car right away and (I think) throw reckless driving charges at you. And if he was drunk while doing it I don't even know what else that would mean (public endagerment, etc).

My understanding is, having felonies under your belt pretty much kill your chances in GETTING a job as a cop. So I'd think getting them would also end your career... especially something like that.

Doing ONE of those, OK fine... maybe keep the job. But both of those at the same time probably warrants enough felonies to mean no police career.
-
Yes, it makes no sense until you factor in something as simple as corruption in the review commission. What sort of mental gymnastics do you have to engage in to decide to give a guy like that his job back, when his job is to protect and serve the public? It's beyond comprehension.

I put it to you all that that "clever" dog just tried all possible actions involving those drawers until finally one permutation got him up on top! A cat would have been on top of there in seconds.

BTW I've finally been able to play the Torchlight 2 beta. I am loving it, it really does trigger the Diablo nostalgia. I'm not as bothered by the cartoon style graphics as I thought I might be and the main action is amazing! I just played up to general grell with a bow outlander and have had a blast. The action is really polished and some of the creatures and magic attacks are very well conceived! I'm playing on Veteran and there is not a problem with being to easy at all. I managed to kill Grell without dying but I managed a prolonged state of "oh shit oh shit" for about 5 minutes! I died just the once, opening two trapped chests side by side when on less than half health...

While the game seems promising, I find the skill tree very boring. I believe they're working on changing it, but I'm concerned that they aren't planning additional beta time to test those changes.
