I'd be interested in the outcome of any that I'm unaware of has though.
3 SCOTUS recent decisions about that being enforceable in last few months have prompted the wave of changes (remember sony and xbox and origin reported on blues?). Any company would be an idiot not to do this given the decisions.
AT&T and Compu Credit, and Marmet Health. I think the AT&T one was on blues.

The Fed arbitration act from congress was basis.

Wow. That's just one screwed up USSC ruling. Forget states' rights, let's just do what's cheapest/most expedient for corporations. And that's from the "conservative" majority of the court. Guess corporations' rights really do trump all.

1. I played both WC and FS, and there really wasn't much difference between them, as far as I recall. They were very similar: fly ships where you could choose your ship and customize loadout, fly missions that varied from CAP, to escort, to protection, etc. I think I liked FS flight mechanics and dogfighting better, but liked the WC story better. Is there something I'm missing here?
Not sure which had a better story, but I definitely liked the FS flight mechanics better. I think the FS missions were generally more interesting too, and I loved the huge capital ships.

Why didn't they just buy a couple of extra reviewers?

I thought that's what game companies did.

That's what the publishers do, and in this case, Zenimax isn't going to buy a few more reviews so they HAVE TO pay out the bonus to Obsidian. More likely in reverse.

Creston
If better scores lead to more sales, then Zenimax/Bethesda would stand to profit more from higher scores. Likely far beyond whatever bonus they'd have to pay.

Actually, I can NOT buy it, AND bitch about it! Free speech is cool. I can tell others that Blizzard and the fanboys are full of shit when they say stuff about it being online only to prevent cheating. I can point out that you're at the mercy of their servers and your ISP if you want to play the game you paid for. I can at least help to inform some people about the problems. If they want to buy anyway, fine. That's their decision. My decision is to point out the crap that ActiBliz is peddling.

This is all very true. The trick to making it work is to ensure that the people receiving your message are stupid enough to agree.

Judging by your past few posts, this is just a drive-by trolling, correct?

Let me spell it out though, just in case...

Factual - 'But you’d have to start a character from scratch, because there’d be no way for us to guarantee no cheats were involved, if we let you play on the client and then take that character online.'

Opinion - 'lame a fucking reason', 'DOES NOT indicate a valid reason'

Seeing the difference yet?
Simple fix for stupid excuse: just tell the player in BIG BOLD LETTERS that if they start an offline character, they will NEVER get to use that character online. Problem solved. Then the rest of use could play offline all we want, no cheating problem whatsoever.

Cram wrote on Mar 15, 2012, 17:58:
Closed realm hacking was and still is rampant. No, I don't know exactly how they do it but it most certainly helps that all the game assets are client side. Hell, you can still find a few people with "White Rings" in current ladder. I also find it amazing how goldfarm sites like d2legit and the others have "perfect" versions of every single item/unique/runeword mere hours into a new ladder season. Mere hours, hundreds if not thousands of perfects which are statistically improbable to ever find even one. In order for Diablo 3, in its current state, to have single player/complete offline mode they would have to redesign the entire game to save assets such as item generation/storage/monster generation client side. Giving hackers direct access to those assets opens up pandora's box for a repeat of Diablo 2 closed realms.

I am not saying there won't be cheats and dupes, but Blizzard has designed the game in such a way that they can see exactly what's happening where/when/how like they can in World of Warcraft. Hacks/cheats may possibly happen but they'll be almost immediately dealt with (as they have been in WoW), offenders banned and items deleted. With their dependence on a stable economy for the RMAH, you know Blizzard won't just sit there and let hacks run rampant. No, I don't think online only will prevent hacks, but I know Blizzard won't, as they did in Diablo 2, sit on their asses and do nothing about it. So, Blizzard has direct control of the entire game as it's online only now. A lot of people don't like that, and feel Blizzard has a noose around all our necks. I don't, I believe this will make my own gaming experience a lot better and as someone how does plan on selling items on the RMAH, a lot more secure.

None of that makes any sense at all when it comes to a separate offline and online mode. Online characters are stored online, offline characters are stored offline. There's no way to edit an online character, so nothing you do with an offline character matters at all.

Any duping or other forms of cheating that happen online will be due to bugs in their online mode code, just like every other online only game. Saying that we can't play offline because of cheating issues is complete BS. I've lost interest in this game because of that. Plenty of other stuff coming out this year anyway.

I agree that they're going to have to address team stacking at some point. It probably won't happen until after they've pretty well finalized most of the class/weapon stats, but it does need to happen. Other games have managed it, and while it might be tougher given the diversity of classes and their roles, even a straight balance based on points or rank or something would be better than nothing.

Haven't seen anything about it ending. Since it's a F2P game, they'll probably just drop the "beta" label at some point.
Oh, I didn't know it was F2P. I guess I won't bother with its beta and wait for it to be released with its F2P.
Well, it's quite playable and fun right now, so don't let the beta label hold you back. Only thing it really needs is some more maps, which I'm sure will be coming along in time. I'm sure they'll continue to tweak things for a while too, but I've been having a blast learning the game. I was never a big Tribes player before, so I'm having to learn a lot of skills now.

Thanks for all the tips and info guys. I think they've changed the packs you can buy now though. Looks more like this now:

$9.99 - 800 Gold + VIP
$19.99 - 1800 Gold + VIP
$29.99 - 3000 Gold + VIP + 30 Day Boost
$49.99 - 5500 Gold + VIP + 60 Day Boost

I'm going to go ahead and buy in now anyway. Just debating whether I want to spring for the XP boost or not.

Anyway, I've only been playing for a few hours, but so far it's a lot of fun. The unlocks seem like they're gonna take a LONG time though. I've earned less than 20K experience so far. A lot of unlocks cost like 18K, and there are at least 20 or so per class. Guess I'll have to stick with one class for a while. I've been playing Juggernaut as a base defender.
Correction, some unlocks take 40-100K even. Wow.

Not sure of what physics issues are present. Physics in comparison with the original or just wonky physics in general?

Jetpacks are too weak and behave horribly under all circumstances. Having to mash the spacebar repeatedly just to turn is not smart design (yeah I switched MB2 and space, wanna fight about it?). Weapons are a total clusterfuck of varying inheritance. Piloting vehicles is just awkward across the board.
Wow, with such specific complaints like those, I'm sure that the devs will be able to correct the issues immediately!

That would be awesome as long as you're on the other team

It's not necessary to do this anymore. They're in open beta phase so you only need to create an account, download the game and play!

Options are a bit limited and I don't like how they handle vehicles, to name a couple of things, but the game is enjoyable.

Ahh, got it, thanks. I guess it's just that 250 gold deal on FB now.
