The music might just be the best thing about the trailer. Sounds almost like a two steps from hell soundtrack.

News Comments > Mass Effect Multiplayer?
33. Re: Mass Effect Multiplayer? Jun 1, 2010, 18:29 VoodooV

nutshell makes an excellent point about ME2.

Many times throughout the game, I would look ahead and see this spot where there were a bunch of CHW that looked really out of place and I thought to myself, "gee, I wonder if something will happen there and ill need to fight.

ME1 was obviously a hybrid shooter/RPG and I applaud that. I think hybrid games are the future. In ME1, in my opinion, the game was more of an RPG and the shooter aspect wasn't as developed. Pinnacle Station highlighted that fact more than anything.

ME2 definitely developed the shooter side of things, but IMO, at the expense of the RPG aspect. It felt like it was the exact opposite of ME1 The shooter aspect was the primary focus and it was the RPG parts that seemed just tacked on or nonexistent. Quite honestly, I just wish they didn't mess with the formula a whole lot and just provide enhancements since it's a trilogy. ME1 and ME2 are so completely different games that I don't feel like it's part of a trilogy anymore. They should have just taken ME1, improved the graphics, fixed the inventory system problems, improved combat and otherwise just make refinements...but no...they practically redesigned the game from scratch and that pisses me off a bit.

And well...whoever thought planet scanning would be a good idea needs to be fired. How the hell did that make it past QA???

more like in a few months Apple will release yet another product that the gadget-whores HAVE to have lest they be considered "not cool" and they'll throw their money away at it too.

I also like how the article points out that the victim was a church-goer. How the fuck is that relevant?

News is anything but news these days.

Then why does the article exist? Why is it newsworthy that a killer used Google Earth?

If an article about how the killer used shoes to get to his target is not newsworthy, then why is using Google Earth newsworthy?

The answer is, as usual, fear. News organizations never miss an opportunity to spread needless fear.

News Comments > Mass Effect 2 DLC Tomorrow
6. Re: Mass Effect 2 DLC Tomorrow May 3, 2010, 23:16 VoodooV

Is it just me or the differences between the armor just trivial? Granted I haven't played around with them much other than the Cerberus assault armor. But since ME2 is more of a FPS than an RPG this time around, I have a hard time noticing the differences as I play so it's just cosmetic differences. I remember adding all the N7 armor pieces that added extra ammo...I just couldn't tell the difference in any significant way.

That's what I miss from ME1. Higher level = better armor. Not just "another type of armor that grants a different kind of bonus, but nothing consequential" Wouldn't want to reward players that actually makes the game different now would we.

Oh and for those of us that bought the edition of ME2 that already had the Inferno armor, where's the DLC so we can get the terminus armor and the blackstorm?

We look forward to getting judicial confirmation that our position is right.

It always makes me wince whenever someone says this regarding a trial. It just reeks of contempt and douchebaggery. The line between confidence and arrogance is a thin one.

for me, what makes this whole thing an epic fail is that it's not like some dumbass kid just stumbled onto the sex content. You had to know about it already, look up on the internet how to enable it and then actually turn it on.

In order to "enjoy" the content, you had to actively seek the information how to turn it on and actively pursue it. How is that any different from actively trying to find out where your dad has stored the porn stash?

It's not like you just start the game and you're unwittingly bombarded with porn

oh look! they used a 3 instead of an E. Gosh, I wish I was clever like that.

Why don't they throw in some more X's to show how eXtreme they are too. Maybe a endorsement deal with Mountain Dew?

does Steam Offline mode still require you to physically unplug the ethernet cable to get into Offline mode?

Still think that's the dumbest thing ever.

3D is nice, but its still a fucking gimmick. A vastly improved gimmick than what it was in the 70s and 80s...but still, just a gimmick.

The earlier post about how we're expected to plunk down even more cash to upgrade our TVs again so soon after the HD upgrade was dead on. Most people will have nothing to do with that. The guy who seems to think it's the next big thing is just so wrong. It's the latest fad, nothing more.

It will remain a gimmick as long as it continues to just be a optical illusion. I don't think we're going to see a true move to 3D until actual holograms or the like where it really is rendered in 3D space and not just a trick being played on your eyes.

Statements like the title of this article are not up to the developers to decide. They might have every intention of making a good MMO with a great story. But that judgement rests with the players, not with the developer.

28. Re: DRM Discussion Feb 3, 2010, 14:21 VoodooV

this is just a rehash of every other previous drm thread ever existed.

piracy is cost of doing business in the digital world. There is *always* going to be someone smart enough to crack the protection. So instead of marketing games to pirates, why are companies not doing the obvious thing here and marketing to people who WANT to pay. 50 and 60 bucks for games also drive people to pirate. Take a lesson from Steam and sell for less, even if it is just once in a while and guess what, you'll make money.

Even if I were to equate every pirated copy to a lost sale (and I don't) You can't get it back...you never will. litigation will never be the answer to lost sales.

but of course, anti-piracy is a whole industry now, They have a vested interest in lying or misleading people into thinking DRM will always be needed no matter what.

follow the money people.

maybe the difference is that Chrome's player won't suck?

I totally agree with you, but it just makes me wonder how things would have played out if WMP actually was inobtrusive and did it's job well.

I freely admit that I can't wait to play ME2.

But uhm...yeah..I can wait till the morning. Hell, I bought it off Amazon and didn't pay for release day shipping. Gee..I hope I don't get picked on for being 'uncool' at the water cooler at work next week.

7. Re: Mass Effect 2 N7 Diary Trailer Jan 19, 2010, 12:52 VoodooV

On one hand, adding in armor appearance customization seems rather frivolous. Do real hard core special ops people go around complaining that their gear looks ugly?

But on the other. It was a real shame that you got this cool N7 armor at the very beginning of the game, but you ditch it right away because it's the weakest armor and within 10 minutes you've already got a Predator armor that's way better (in addition, the camo look is better, but that's just personal taste)

So...woo?
