Bill Gates says West not supplying enough IT talent.

Is that his latest excuse for why his company can't come up with anything original?

20. Sheep dash Nov 7, 2006, 08:46 Jim

OK I didn't do too well. 4 tries and I kept getting false start penalties because a sheep would lurch but not dash and I jumped the gun.

18. Speed bump in Duba Nov 7, 2006, 08:29 Jim

LOL! A few years ago they put in a raised pedestrian crossing between the State House and state offices buildings across Smith Street, and people used to racing through at higher than the posted 25mph limit found themselves in a similar predicament. You can still see gouge marks in the asphalt where the cars landed.

11. backing out Nov 6, 2006, 11:54 Jim

I hate backing up anytime, which is usually why I park at the back of parking lots where I can pull straight in and pull straight out, but at home I have no choice but to back out. Being the end unit sucks on trash day because I have that much less room to work with as the trash is right at the curb and I can't "cheat" by running over the grass and off the curb at the very end- so this morning I knocked over a recycle box and had to pick it up. Not as bad as hitting the neighbor's car but still sucks. Its going to be worse in the winter with snow piled up. Bah, time to move.

I forgot to mention, I was playing Guild Wars last night, and it said, "You have been on for 2 hours, please take a break" I actually laughed out loud. Anyone else notice those messages?

"Your bladder is full, please go urinate."

11. Re: Europe Dart Game Nov 3, 2006, 08:39 Jim

I could understand the names just fine; the problem lay with my actually hitting anywhere near the target....

Guess my geography isn't up to par as it should be.

I did pretty well with the Western European cities (average 80-120km) but the Eastern European ones sometimes couldn't even click the correct country. My closest stab was London at 20km, then I think Rome and Lisbon at 79 or so. Furthest guess (don't remember which one) was 1055km.

10. smart phone Nov 3, 2006, 08:22 Jim

I am proud to say that I do not own a cell phone (never have) or any handheld devices (except an ipod if that counts- which I usually only take with me when I travel).

Welcome to the 21st century MS. Now hopefully IE6 will die a quick death. I'm sick of basic CSS shit not working with it.

Where does Apple hide the release notes for these updates? They update it once a week it seems and I'm curious as to what's being updated.

What a horrible football game (great one if you are a PATs fan). I couldn't believe it - Vikes didn't even show up. Makes my hangover that much worse.

That was a great game, though I wish the MNF games would start an hour earlier as I have a tendance to miss most of the 4th quarter. Didn't matter much in last night's game though.

/in fact - they handed out ESPN commentators paper faces on a stick dealie at each door. Well, I headed to the john and saw there was a Michael Irvin one in the trough. So - the highlight of my night was pissin' on that idiots head.

Cool that you got to see the game live.

Guy gets first question wrong on millionaire.

AH-hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah...

<gasp>

AH-hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah...

Think that made my day. Wonder if he killed himself afterwards...

And he was so sure of himself by saying "final answer" immediately after giving the answer. WAIT!

Who wants to be a zeroaire?

I don't watch the show, saw it a couple times a few years ago (didn't even know it was still on), but I'm guessing its not very common to bomb the first question.

From what i understand it seems no different from XP.. If you do a major system upgrade over two times you have to call in and request they reactivate your key.. Don't see why thats such a hassle for everyone. Last time i did it, it took no more than a couple of minutes.
Kind of seems like people flipping out about nothing.

I had to call into a call center in India last time my DVD drive shit the bed. Install new drive, Windows needs to be activated again. Call the 800 #, end up talking to someone with a think Indian accent after about 10 mins of hold time.

I guess its not that big of a deal to some people, but if I paid for it, own it, and need to do maintenance on my system (replace broken parts) I shouldn't have to call the manufacturer to get premission.

It would be like having to call the manufacturer of my television to get premission to put it on another TV stand or to hook up a different cable/satellite service to it.

12. Daylight Losings Time Oct 30, 2006, 14:21 Jim

Well, after complaining yesterday about early sundowns following the return to Standard Time, I have to admit to taking great pleasure from getting to drive MrsBlue to the train on a bright, sunny morning for a change.

Ugh, just when the sun was rising late enough to not interfere with my eastbound trip into work in the AM, now I have to leave later just so the sun can rise high enough to not be a nuissance (or leave for work at 6am). Now comes the time of year I wish for cloudy mornings again.

And yeah, early sunsets suck too.
