What they've done with the interface is interesting too. It really is a better implementation of what Microsoft did with IE7.

The page is really prominent. Toolbars and window headers are minimal. Even the status bar is just an auto-hiding pop-up. It feels really clean.

The thumbnail history of frequently visited sites it provides when opening a new tab is already working its way into my habits.

It still has a couple of rough spots (I miss smooth scrolling and the ability to turn off underlined links) but so far I like it. I'm using it in place of FF at work now.

this on top of CFLs will kill you and incandescents will kill the planet, I declare "let there be less light" and maybe we can get Rhode Island to become the first Dark Sky State.

In other news:

Parents Are Never Going To Be Able To Monitor All Kids Online Activities
Truly shocking, because we all know, since the beginnig of time parents have been able to monitor all kids [offline] activities.

Computer viruses make it to orbit

23. obsolete tech that was once teh ballz Aug 25, 2008, 13:30 Jim

I remember the first time I used a P133 with 32mb of Ram thinking it was wicked fast, running Win95.

Then I got a 300MHz P2 with a whopping 128mb of Ram. Well that machine eventually got handed down, then handed down again, before finally finding its way to the eco depot, perhaps 6-7 years ago now.

21. 200000 pound Wii Aug 21, 2008, 20:12 Jim

Doesn't ebay adjust the bid to just top the current highest bid or just over the reserve, and not the actual amount entered by the bidder?

So if the current bid is 150, and the reserve is 200, and I put in 200000 wouldn't it just go up to 201?

Ok, so it isn't a Bigfoot - so still, what's going on? Are those two guys packing around a human body?

No, they're packing around a Halloween costume:

Are these the same guys who a couple of years ago hyped a press conference in which they were to release "definitive evidence" of contact with extraterrestrial intelligence?

I think an RSS feed could also provide the groundwork for a mobile version. I have no clue how the BN system is set up, but I would love to work on an RSS feed as long as it's not in Perl.

Actually, it should be possible to scrape the frontpage to make an RSS feed out of it. Might as well take a look, since I've got nothing else to do todoay.

Here's your RSS feed:

Blues News was the first site (by a huge lead) that I ever saw with an RSS feed. I think it took the rest of the web 2 years or so to catch up.

Well I'm not an astrophysicist so sorry if I wasn't technically accurate, but I think you know what I was trying to say.

I know. Besides being a little bit sarcastic, it reinforced the point you were trying to make.

Aren't the economists saying that rising energy prices are partly a result of more and more oil going to China?

Now that we know where to find it, perhaps its time to dig that proverbial hole to China.

OK I really don't get it with all this Bat-Mania. There have been a gazillion Batman movies now, and I had seen a couple of the earlier ones and didn't think they were all that great. Is it because this one is in Imax? I'm not really a fan of the genre so I doubt I'm going to go see this one unless it is on TV and I have absolutely nothing better to do with 2.5 hours of my time.

1. Lobster liberators bid to return 10 kg Jul 18, 2008, 21:29 Jim

Anyone who knows lobster knows that these big old guys aren't as tasty and tender as the smaller, younger ones.

Throw 'im back in the sea, or give him to the local aquarium.
