This looks pretty good. I question the wisdom of them releasing this the same day Portal 2 is out. They could have waited a week or 2 and then it would have been the top story of the day.

Really not a big deal at this point, I'll just wait 'til Tuesday. Its gonna rain anyway so instead of going to the observatory I'll be playing Portal 2.

I'm preloading Portal 2 now. Hopefully it runs decent on my iMac or else I'll probably need to build a new PC.

Looks like this was Valve's way of rickrolling us into thinking Portal 2 was going to be released at the end of the count down. I don't want a potato sack I want Portal 2.

8. DARPA's new telescope could see the aliens on Mars Apr 14, 2011, 13:31 Jim

Are they going to have one on display at NEAF?

This is a pretty misleading headline, and the article seems to be vague on details, such as where the "magic" is. What details they do provide make it sound like it combines aspects from the operational Kepler space telescope and the under-construction Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST), but in a mobile platform, which is the real unique ability here. 3.5 meters is pretty impressive, as is f/1.0, but seeing aliens on Mars? The laws of optics (physics) only allow so much believability.

t's just a few days until the end of March,

It was a year ago this week that we had the historic floods, so I'll take the cold.

Amy Adams to play Lois Lane in 'Superman'

WTF, they're making another remake? Or is this a remake of the remake? Further proof that the movie biz is completely tapped out of original ideas.

Microsoft isn't too bright. They've hamstrung IE9 by not developing it for the XP users. People are still using XP because it works. It is stable, and because it has been established for a while, drivers work on it. Then they came out with Vista and pretty much turned a lot of people off to upgrades (in fact caused a huge "downgrade" movement) so the users will stick with what works. So what does MS do? Not develop IE9 for XP.

IE9 is the first valid contender in the browser market from MS in a long time, it is too bad they have done this. They just seem to do everything possible to screw web developers by keeping their ancient crapware browsers around forever.

That's because every single day is now a fucking 'Day.' Talk Like Herbie Day, Spit Like An Eagle Day. Wipe Like You Mean It Day.

Get rid of all the retarded "Days", and maybe people would pay attention to the few that would actually mean something.

OR, you know, let's just go completely nuts and have Hours! Right now it's "Do No Fucking Work Hour" and it gets my vote.

Creston

And the holidays that are well-known have been watered down by blatant commercialism. It is sickening how Memorial Day has become something that is celebrated rather than observed and has become yet another "go out and buy stuff day". If Medal of Honor Day ever does become widely know, I'm sure someone will tell you that it is a good time to buy a mattress.

1. Chrome logo Mar 22, 2011, 10:21 Jim

I always thought the logo sucked. Too much unnecessary "3-D" to it and it always looked like a Simon electronic memory game to me. The new one is far better, not great, but better.

9. basement floodings Mar 7, 2011, 14:32 Jim

That's the same madness nearly everyone in Rhode Island went through last March (Google Image search "Warwick Mall Flood" to see how bad it got).

These events make me question the sanity of anyone who thinks basements are still a good idea in new home construction. If it doesn't flood this year, the next time it does flood is a year closer.

A Legislator that Listens: License Plates For Bikes Bill Pulled

It's stupid things like this that give all us democrats a bad name

That was a dumb idea from the start. The money they expected to raise from it would almost certainly not be enough to cover another state bureaucracy to manage it. Next they'd end up requiring inspections and insurance, and a gas tax surcharge to make up for the gas you're not using (tax you're not paying) by cycling instead of motoring.

How much $$$ is left in that cash cow? Unless Lucas builds a life-size Death Star in orbit around the Moon and runs it like a resort hotel, its time to let it rest.

I pre-ordered the sim after watching. Truly epic.

That looks awesome. I remember a lot of buzz a long time back (more than a decade ago as I recall) that Jane's Combat Simulations was going to be producing an A-10 sim, but it never materialized.
