Fix for full-screen game when running dual monitors. Previously, the curser could scroll off the "open" side, and not be able to scroll the map in that direction. An impressively subtle fix, my dual monitors appreciate it. |

Odd indeed. |

Parallax Abstraction wrote on Oct 16, 2010, 14:23: I'm waiting on some reviews and community opinion on this before I move on it. Aside from it being Obsidian, Fallout 3 was a buggy mess that had tons of problems on PC (not the least of which was requiring Aero be disabled and the INI file being altered so it wouldn't crash on multi-core systems, neither solution which was supported by Bethesda) and got horrendous patch support. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the same issues in this one. I hope I'm wrong but yeah, Bethesda has almost as bad a polish record as Obsidian. No crashing on my dual-core since Fallout 3's release day, but after a patch or two I started getting an endless black screen on quitting the game via menus, unless I quit via alt-F4, or used my second monitor to be able to see to kill the Fallout 3 process.
So now I've gotten back into the habit of quitting via alt-F4 in everything, haha.
Their bugs are weird. |

xXBatmanXx wrote on Oct 10, 2010, 18:35: The most worthless one is year/month/day - why put the year first? Most instances you are 99% interested in the month/day, and the year just solidifies what you were looking at.... Simple, that method is useful for older stuff. The year matters more than the month or day when something is older than a year. Indeed. And for the exact reasons kanniballl said, for archival purposes (with computers), nothing beats something like "20020708". The only question you might have with a file like that is whether it's July or August, but you'd trust that a person using that notation will go Greatest, Middle, Least like you'd hope. Though once you have a window full, of say,
20020701 - insert weekly radio show title here 20020708 - insert weekly radio show title here 20020715 - insert weekly radio show title here
You can find the exact file you want with the quickest glance over the list, and know from the context that it's July of 2002.
That date format has saved me a ton of headaches. |

After patching FO3 works just fine with win7 64 bit. The only trouble I've had with crashes lately is when I add a conflicting mod or too many NPC "buddies".
New Vegas is one of the few games I've pre-prdered this year; looking forward to it. It's the only game I've preordered this year. I must be looking forward to it too. |

I AM worried about it being buggy as shit, and about it being absolutely awesome in the first 40-70% of the game, and then in traditional Obsidian fashion going to absolute hell for the last parts.
MAYBE they'll have learned by now. I'm not so convinced though...
Creston Well, to polish out bugs, they do have almost 3 weeks from the day it should be on Steam, which is today. Right? If it's complete. Like they say it is, with this press release. Right?
Right?
Right... |

it also comes down to whether you would rather play a mediocre game with no bugs, or an awesome game that has bugs.. so for some people its not as black and white as "IT HAS BUGS ITS WORTHLESS" Agreed. A game can be perfectly polished but if the fundamental gameplay is mediocre, it doesn't matter. Most of my favorite games were pretty buggy. Fallout 1&2, Planescape Torment, Arcanum, Gothic 1&2, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, etc. Conversely, my least favorite games tend to be very polished. Gears of War, Call of Duty, Halo, Assassin's Creed, etc. Just, please, please no...no crash bugs. Or savegames being made incompatible by an automatic Steam update to the game.
Edit: I preordered already, I just think of problems like those for the classic games listed there.

And please allow people to earn xp playing custom games. I don't care if the matchmaking improves a ton with the new system, just let us play the game and earn xp as we play. track 2 seperate sets of xp if you must so people earning xp playing custom games don't see those rewards in ranked games if you must.... Wait, DoW2 has grinding in multiplayer too? I thought that was limited to single-player. Forcing players to grind and unlock new units, abilities or structures in a competitive multiplayer RTS is ridiculous. It's aesthetic only... |
