Don't even notice it unless I'm looking at it, which is actually quite often since I can navigate back through a cleared dungeon looking only at the mini-map. So really, it's the perfect size IMO.

I can navigate back through a cleared dungeon looking only at the mini-map, even if it was 20% of its current size. Again, just because it works for YOU, isn't a valid argument. WASD doesn't work for me so I change it, just like I should be able to change the minimap. This isn't 1990, and this isn't a console game.
What the hell, it sounds like your minimap is like twice the size of mine, are you playing on a 30"?

The obsession with the minimap has gotten a little weird...

Hasn't it? on my 24" I could actually stand to have the minimap BIGGER. Something between the fullscreen automap and the tiny minimap would be nice.

Can't be that hard, Battlefield lets you choose from multiple minimap settings on the fly, and most people don't have the time to touch that when the bullets are flying.

Not so much. FIrst off, it's Kotau, which is an abysmally bad site made up of absolutely terrible writers imo - bottom of the barrel talentless hacks who think they are journalists. Secondly, they are basing that assumption on development time length, lack of info at E3, and a spate of departures from the design team, which I would think are as likely due to the game being near completion as a sign of trouble.
Thanks for the recon. They don't deserve the click.

But he needs to have broken a law to be a target. Starting a business, running it poorly and having it go out of business isn't a crime, if it was no one would ever start a business. Yes, there may be some civil issues that pop up, but on the surface there's not even a hint of a crime committed by Schilling.
Since when? The gov painted a target on him when he was looking for a scapegoat. If someone wants to target someone, they don't need to have any obvious laws broken. There's tons of obscure things or things one wouldn't think are a problem that can be an issue. Like if a cop wants to find something wrong with your car and pulls you over, they will. Maybe that oil sticker in the corner of your window merits a fine for instance. Or maybe your headlights aren't aligned and calibrated properly.
On a business, just bring in OSHA or something and they can find things wrong. Maybe that railing is 3 inches too high. Maybe someone ran a power cord across the floor.
Which reminds me, they could bring in BSA and have them do an audit of the computers. There's ALWAYS at least one copy of a software somewhere that wasn't properly licensed at all companies.

And those are just a few things off the top of my head.
That sounds more like a witch hunt than a proper investigation.

Good review, as expected unfortunately.

As far as the graphics improvements, the engine really does have great graphics, but you have to zoom in to an unplayably-close level to appreciate that. Then you zoom right back out and stop seeing them for the rest of the game.

What.. the PS3 wasn't expensive at all at launch! I personally took Mr. Hirai's advice and got a 2nd job to get my first one.. no sweat! In fact, I loved it so much I sold my left nut a week later to build a small PS3 gaming room with multiple consoles. Aah it's like basking in a room full of supercomputers, I just turn them all on and absorb every bit of that Reality Synthesizing Emotion Engine goodness.

Well here we are 4 years later.. and I've still got one nut left, so bring on the PS4!
Iceburn. Impressive summation of the PS3's launch hype.

Finally! I can get some gear for my broken Barbarian, so he can maybe kill something in inferno without having to kite it to death, and it'll only cost me, what, $50?

Fuck you Blizzard. I wouldn't count on my being a customer of yours again anytime soon if I were you.

Did you play D2? Maybe try grinding and trading some more. geez.
Plus they're lowering Inferno difficulty.

Reminds me of just how fluid the design doc for Planescape: Torment was. Oh we are in for something GOOD.

Love that community involvement section on page 8. Want to contribute art, or story? Give a sample, and they might draft you (and credit you). How is that not awesome?

Ah. You want to go back before the time colloquially known as 'The Insanity'.

D3's p.good all things considered. Sucks about the rampant bots.

I haven't been having speed problems, but I've noticed two annoying things started happening recently. When watching a YouTube video embedded on another site, if I go full screen it shows the HD icon on the status bar, but the video is certainly not playing in HD. The other is when watching videos longer than 10 minutes, it randomly stops somewhere in the middle and starts over from the beginning.
That HD thing happens to me even when I use the menu to choose 720 or 1080p manually. Sometimes it even downgrades the stream from 480 down to 360, instead of going up to HD. It's freaking bizarre. Gotta mess with with the quality menu a couple of more times to fix it, then I'm still suspicious like it might just have reverted to 480 for a second time... weird stuff.

Seems GameSpy has been dying bit by bit since IGN took over. A few of those planet sites I used to frequent haven't seen a new news post in over a year. I wonder why they're still even up.
Probably still up for the mod information/content that they host. What a waste to just turn off that database... sad to see it in disrepair, but what isn't unkept these days.

Just for full disclosure, I personally know 5 of the former employees of 38 who had been involved for over 2 years (well, 1 of them just under a year). There was more going on than just Chafee thinking this wasn't a business RI should be investing in, but that's obvious to anyone without blinders on. You don't magically miss a loan payment just because the Governor isn't thrilled with the deal.
