of course, consider that we're making first and foremost a PC game. And this means that we have quite a lot of high-tech in there, the firing and moving controls are fast and responsive, just like in any shooter - mouselook is great for this, even though we fully support joysticks and gamepads - and the gameplay is not as simplistic as in most console games. Aha... Somebody who knows how to reassure the PC crowd

I was going to write more, but you guys said it all already. Are the sex minigames stupid? Sure. Are they morally more outrageous than the rest of the gameplay? HELL NO. Theft, insanely dangerous driving, violence and murder are all acceptable, but sex is TEH EVIL!!! Unbelievable. Well, not unbelievable -- we've seen this stance for countless years in the U.S. film industry -- but it's completely ridiculous. And yeah, Rockstar will be laughing all the way to the bank.
edit: Oh, not to mention that everyone who downloads the patch to unlock this already has access to all the internet's porn. This comment was edited on Jul 21, 00:44. |

Episodic?
WC: Prophecy was the last in the series, I think. Is that the title you're after?
Just been replaying the I-War series, myself. Damn those are great games...

Ragdoll deaths are a cooler effect. Not least because they're not silly. Well, depending on the ragdoll coode...
Gibs were always strange inclusion. Not as much in Doom, which 'gibbed' things only if you hit them with high-explosives, but subsequent shooters took to having bodies disintegrate into bloody chunks merely if you shot them a bunch with, say, a pistol.
Unless this is restricted to significant quantities of dynamite or gunpowder barrels (you just know they'll be everywhere), this will also just be silly. Even more so given the setting, I think.
I replayed "Outlaws" quite recently. Still a great game, that.

Certainly not the list of comments I expected to read. Count me pleasently surprised
Hopefully the game will get picked up by a publisher soon. "So appealing that Blue's News readers didn't even ridicule the english translations!", the developers can proudly claim
It looks very intriguing. Screenshots look nice (potentially very nice), but are so low-res that it's hard to get a true impression. Somewhat bizarrely, the video clips are higher resolution than the screens. Has anyone downloaded them? (30MB on dial-up is a bit of a stretch for me.)

Ah, 1nsane. Also way up there in the ranks of dumb titles, for sure. I kinda presumed that everyone pronounced it "onesane", actually. Surely if they wanted it to be pronounced any differently they wouldn't have stuck a number in there?

Scooter Warez. Priceless. And they even used the pathetic numbers-in-place-of-letters spelling for added irony (or were they just trying to infer some kind of link with that most revered of all vehicular games, "Driv3r"?)

High hopes for this one. Omikron was amazing for its time. I'll be reading review conclusions with great interest. I think I'll keep the hell away from most of the review content, though -- I don't trust incompetent reviewers to not spoil things.

Trackmania Sunrise is simply fantastic. A brilliant brilliant game. It offers up that (now) rarely-seen style of gaming that is pure unadulterated joyous FUN. If that sounds good to you, you want to buy this game.
Also to unlock the later "missions" you still need to get golds in every race/serie cup. And i hate those cups. Especially when trying to do the gold version of em. No, if you lower the difficulty (which of course you can do at any time) you will NEVER EVER need to get a gold serie cup!!!! (unless they've restricted one or two of the Puzzle or Crazy tracks, but I don't believe this is the case). I have completed all Races and all Platform tracks and was never (once I lowered the difficulty) asked to attain a gold cup.
You will need the occasional gold medal, and (towards the end) an occasional silver cup, but that's it, and as you can decide for yourself which tracks or track series to try to achieve this in, it's not a big drama.
You can see most of the game only needing bronze medals (which is a requirement that should only cause any kind of serious challenge in the very final set of tracks for a game type).
Oh, and missing a jump in a race does not (in general, at least) force you to start over from the beginning unless you're going for a silver or gold time -- simply reset to the last checkpoint and you'll be fine. And if you were close enough to the checkpoint, you'll often still be on for a silver medal.

On the one hand, there are console-only games that would be nice to be able to play. On the other, if developers didn't even *have* to port games to release a PC version then we'd get no improvements AT ALL. They'd just develop purely for the X-Box safe in the knowledge that it would also run on PC, and we'd get landed with crappy user-interfaces and the like for every game under the sun.

It is true that cricket takes some getting used to. Especially test cricket, where you can play for five days and very frequently end in a draw I always figured that aspect of the game would pretty much rule out wide-spread interest from the U.S. (although having now written the next paragraph, it's worth mentioning the test cricket is also a highly strategic game, so maybe I'm wrong about its potential appeal...)
Someone asked about American Football, and I think you probably hit the nail on the head with the strategy comment. All other "football" games are relatively fast free-flowing affairs... there's still strategy, but the game is always moving. I guess when we see a game called "football", this is what we expect to see, and as a result American Football appears to be incredibly boring, because they've ripped out all the flowing play in favour of extra levels of strategic planning and execution. So yeah, we're probably looking for the wrong things when we see it, and missing out on the enjoyable aspects altogether.

SAIS is one of the best value-for-money games I've ever bought. The "just one more game" factor is just about off the scale!
I wonder if this announcement means that Cheap Ass Games are not involved with the sequel? They've published all of Digital Eel's games thus far, so if this is the case, it seems odd to break the (happy, I thought) relationship.
In any case... very greatly looking forward to the Return to Infinite Space!!! (Even if it is hideously overdue, guys...

I think that makes most of the world terrorists, then
Heck, even the ones who enjoy the game will never be able to take seriously a national championship that gets billed as a "world series". (I realise you're all tired of that being brought up, but until you change the name it's going to keep on being a valid point).
Having said that, given the choice between watching Baseball, Basketball, and American Football, I would choose baseball in a heartbeat. As a country, you guys have some pretty weird tastes. I expect you'd reciprocate the sentiment, though

'warfighter' is the actual term used by the DoD. Since the word 'soldier' implies actual combat Yep, and they sure wouldn't want to imply that there will be combat in their Ghost Recon game. Sheesh. I already thought the title was dumb, and now I find that it's even dumber than I realised!
I'm just irritated by the industry-wide ditching of numbers for sequels. It used to be that expansions used sub-titles and sequels used numbers for clarity. Hence "Homeworld: Cataclysm" and "Homeworld 2", for example. It was a nice easy system which imparted useful information for the customer, because sequels tended to be more in-depth efforts often with newer technology, while expansions tend to be "more of the same". In gaming, this information is helpful.
Now they just seem terrified that Joe Consumer will be frightened away from "Ghost Recon 3" because he didn't play the first two, and we end up with this annoyingly ambiguous naming scheme. It's not too bad if there are only a couple of titles, but if the series keeps going, and you mix in expansion packs as well, then it just becomes a complete mess.

I'd rather they just focus on their expansion / next game now. Patching a game a year after release seems slightly redundant Damn, don't EVER complain about a company supporting their game!!! We get quite enough bad support from developers and publishers without bitching that someone is giving too much support.
Lots of people are still playing it, lots of us haven't even started playing it. Support is good (and does not generally require the resources of an entire company -- I'm sure they are working on their next product, at the same time as fixing the last one...)

No multiplayer in the demo, wheres the unistall icon... What the hell is the point of a single-player-only game of Worms?! (And this from someone who just doesn't DO multiplayer in general).
Not even hot-seat??
