I think Win98SE can do 256MB, but I think programs can run within windows that can use more than that. Like I think Photoshop can use well over the limits of the OS.
I'm sure I've read that it's possible.
Just pick up a copy of XP Pro. It's cheap if you look around, or free if you have no morals
I think it's fair to say that for gaming purposes, 512MB is enough.

Is it just me for whom the phrase "recently added a second chocolate lab to their family" required a double take?
One would be nice, let alone a second. Yeah, I thought the exact same thing

How is it a given that I'm young? What gave that away? The fact that I'm actually entering into this discussion?
Whatever.
Stupid? I wonder why they let me into one of the best uni's in the country...

Hell yeah, their AI is horrendous. I've played Land Warrior and the AI is pitiful. Then my housemate got a demo of BHD off the internet and went on about how good it was going to be. It wasn't. The AI is still useless.
The engines aren't pushing any technology forward, the gameplay is samey and dull, the AI is hideous... It's just a bland game.

"but I'm not too worried about it."
Yeah, apparently. Meaning what? That post probably took 5 minutes to type, which is no time at all, so I doubt he really is all that worried about it.
Oh, and by the way, I'm young, thin, popular, attractive (so I'm told) and planning getting married to my girlfriend. How does that fit in with your picture of people who disagree with you on the internet.
Go on now, accuse me of lying. Either that or accuse me of bragging about things that are irrelevant despite them simply being counters to your previous argumnts. Either way it proves no point whatsoever.

I can't get my Radeon 9500 Pro to work in 3D in Linux. I'm using Redhat 9.0 and it doesn't work. Curses.
But on the plus side, Ogle will play any DVD regardless of region on a locked drive.

I think it was some woman in the opposition at the time. The other famous one is:
Her: "Sir, if you were my husband, I would put poison in your coffee." Him: "Madam, if you were my wife, I would drink it."

"no reason for not having an OotB yesterday? Maybe I'm just a n00b but I've never seen a day go by without one and think it was odd that not much was said about it. as others have said I hope yer doing ok Blue"
As was discussed yesterday, it was probably a mark of respect for 9/11.

In Doom3's case, DirectX was chosen because MS is paying them a ton to be able to put it on the XBox. The choice for id is clear.
Did I miss something? You're the second person in this thread to say Doom III will be using DirectX instead of OpenGL. This is completely inaccurate AFAIK. Where did you hear this?? I think someone's hitting the crack pipe.
Just because Microsoft want Doom 3 on the XBOX doesn't mean they'll use Direct X for it. Last I heard Windows ran OpenGL perfectly happily, so I'm sure whatever crazy operating system is running the XBOX under the hood will be able to handle OpenGL.

The weapons and the damage dealt by them are completely retuned from the single player version for multiplayer. There will be headshot damage and kickback (screen jumps up somewhat as you shoot depending on running/standing still) for the gun weapons. *yawn*

I think the reason the game was so hyped for the Xbox, is because it's the only Xbox game that doesn't totally suck. Be fair, Splinter Cell is awesome and I'm told Tony Hawk is pretty cool.
That said, Splinter Cell always was and will be much better on a PC that can actually handle the awesome lighting that the game hinges on.

Your case being?
Myself... Zeph, you just turned up. If Creston thought you were being a dick, he might have mouthed off.
You're a newbie (you can't deny it, even if you dislike the epithet) and Creston is pretty old skool. When you're new somewhere, you have to earn respect.
And frankly, I don't think you'll earn a great deal of respect by bitching at the people who've been here forever and a day.
Wanna try bitching at Ray? That'd make me laugh.

Tattoine level is pretty rubbish.
The Tomb one is better, but only just. Some of the fights are too hard, some too easy. Three of those red guys against you? Eeek! Time for force speed I think. Other times, as I say, they're just dumb - concussion bombs work way too well at knocking them off ledges.
That said, the sound scripting verges on the psychic... At one point I wandered into a hallway with two double saber enemies and one staff saber enemy coming at me. "You won't get far!" one said. How right he was. The game crashed and took my whole PC down with it.

If people hunt to eat, then that's cool.
Equally, some hunting is necessary to keep some animal populations in control.
However, the point is both have to be humane. Guns are good for this (and yes, I realise I was arguing against guns in another thread, but that was in the context of handguns etc) as if you know what you're doing you can kill an animal very quickly and easily.
I'm against hunting for sport, or "fun". Killing an animal should not be fun simply for the sake of inflicting harm on something. Certainly not if it's for the means of culling - that's a clinical thing, you're there to do a job. Hence why the whole "cat killing with shotguns" business was so outrageous, because the writer clearly seemed to enjoy it solely for the sake of inflicting harm and pain on animals.
I've lost my point.
I tell you what is horrendous - fox hunting with dogs in England. That's barbaric. That could be done with guns quite easily.

Ooh, you're right. I hadn't downloaded any on the basis that I don't hold with spyware, but I looked back and there is indeed a spyware free version. It's Divx Pro that comes with spyware or a price tag.
