CreamyBlood, you are EXACTLY what I was talking about. You look down on people for liking different games than you. You acted like I personally insulted you when I said I enjoyed Oblivion. You called me and everyone else who liked it "mindless idiots stumbling around the planet," and that I must be some stupid, immature kid that doesn't know any better. CreamyBlood, FUCK YOU.
I'm only 25, but I've been gaming at least since I was 5 years old. I own Fallout 1 and 2. I own System Shock 2. Those are 3 of my favorite games right there. I played through and beat Wasteland. I love fucking Wing Commander, Ultima, and Monkey Island. While I've owned consoles, I always come back to PC gaming because that's usually where I can find the kinds of games I like. But you know what? I don't fucking think I'm BETTER than people that do mostly play console games.
You probably like some games I don't, and that's fine. I'm not going to sit here and call you names because the entertainment you like is slightly different from the entertainment I like. At the end of the day, remember, this is supposed to be entertainment, not the fuel for some holy war you seem intent on carrying out.

You guys are freakin' ridiculous. So many people on this site are elitist gaming snobs. The third installment of a great series is coming out and you guys are ripping it apart before you've seen ANYTHING. Based on what? Oblivion? That was one of the most fun and addicting PC games I've played in a while. Was it more accessible than Morrowind? Hell yeah, and I'm grateful for it. Morrowind was fun, but just too wide open for my tastes. I'm not opposed to a litle hand holding if it lets me get to the cool parts the game has to offer and not wander around a giant labrynth of a city for hours looking for the one damn person you're supposed to talk to or any shit like that.
I really dislike scenesters of any kind, people that are so wrapped up in the minutia of their hobbies, people that look for reasons to shoot down anything that doesn't fit exactly what they're looking for that they spend more time bitching about games than having fun with them.

The whole thing is pretty surreal. I lived in that dorm, and had some classes in that academic hall. Its bizarre seeing the big guns of media, Katie Couric, Brian Williams, etc, in Blacksburg, in front of buildings I recognize.
It pisses me off that for the next couple decades I won't be able to mention that I went to Virginia Tech without the other person immediately thinking of the bullshit that went on there today.

Good article. Having just gone through college a couple years ago, I recognize the ridiculous cost for most textbooks, but at the same time I can't imagine having much respect for my school when my education there is so obviously colored by corporate sponsors. At the very least, I can't imagine having any respect for the quality of a class I took that had such an assigned textbook.
I also enjoyed the writing style of the article. I just got finished watching "Good Night and Good Luck", filled with interesting, evocative, intelligent sounding news reporting. Its good to know people with that sort of a command of the english language are still around.

I'm pretty sure Wii supports progressive scan, so you should at least be able to play in 480p. Even the gamecube does that for certain games, so I'd bet that almost all Wii games will get that treatment. Some games, like the new Zelda, will support 16x9 also.

Usually when something is called Quad turbo, its referring to the number of turbo chargers, not the number of engines. Still, though, the torque numbers on that must be obscene.

Wow, this looks really cool. Ultima V was a little before my time; I played the rest of the series, with the high point being, of course, Ultima VII. This looks like I'll be reinstalling Dungeon Seige to check this out!

Absolutely priceless. That was really well done, and Requiem for a Dream is one of my favorite movies ever. It's one big reason heroin remains permenantly on my (admittedly small) "No" list.

Not sure if you've tried Winamp out lately, but the new version of Milkdrop, one of the bundled visualizations that comes with it, is just mindblowing. It does easily the best job I've ever seen of synching up with the music, and there's probably 100 different visualization patterns. After having on for hour and hours, every now and then it still pops out a cool new one I havn't seen before. This isn't just the usual "going fast through a tunnel of lights" visualization pattern, either. I've seen a solar system pattern, a cool dancing stick figure, a boat going over sound waves, one that reminds me of blood cells going through veins... it goes on.
Between this and winamps pretty killer built in internet radio system, its turned itself into my primary mp3 player.

I'm sure this is too old a thread for anyone to actually read, but I just came across it, and that was hilarious!

Agreed, I'm thinking I'm going to actually shell out money for this pretty soon. I've become somewhat addicted to the demo, and the full game is only $25. I'd like the full game for what's not offered in the demo, of course, but I'd also like to reward the people who have already given me hours of "gaming lite" fun.

I just saw one of these up close this morning in a VW showroom. At over $72,000, I can see why they've only sold 6,000 of these, but that car (and that factory) is freakin' gorgeous. I'm definitely not in the market for a supersize luxury sedan (2006 Civic Si, baby!) but hats off to VW for putting together one hell of a Halo car.

Personally, I think you'd be better off rewatching the first one. The first one gave the two trapped characters a little bit of depth, here they're all cardboard cutouts. There's too many of them, and the entire thing is a lame excuse to get to the death traps, which, honestly, I didn't think were as good as the first one. There were a couple moments that just made me crawl in my skin (SST: pit 'o syringes) but overall, meh. I also liked how in the first one, the victims basically had the choice of "do this really messed up thing right now or die. Here, the characters had plenty of chances to think about how to intelligently approach their situations, and failed every single time. Add in some super-lame police cliches and a laughable origin story for Jigsaw, and you get a pretty marginal sequel. The first movie was dark, disturbing, but somewhat intelligent. This is just a dumbed down hollywood excuse for some gross-out moments.

Yikes. That is all.
P.S. 16 kids seems just a little disturbing to me. I'm sure they're nice people and all, but if torturing small animals is an indication of a serial killer, 16 kids must be an indication of... well, something not quite right. This comment was edited on Oct 13, 02:13. |
