DNF flash sale for $4.99.

Naaaaah.

GTAIV on sale for $4.99 too. Worth it? I heard it has a good story.

And ya, DNF not even for $4.99. Maybe not even for a dollar, tbh.

Skyrim is on sale again at 50% ($29.79) for the next hour or so (Steam).

I looked up the sales figures for it and was pretty impressed. Over 6 million units sold so far. I mean, it's not 25 million (MW3), but for an RPG priced premium at $60, those sales are outstanding.

I guess the fact it's on all platforms must help too.

I think I'm done. My budget was $50 and for that I've gotten Skyrim + Witcher 2, + KOTOR 1 (gave my old copy to bro-in-law in South America some time ago, nice to have it again). I think it's a good deal all around and comes in at $48.50 or thereabouts.

Must admit I'm intrigued by Trine 2 though - the gameplay looks great, and if you add in co-op, and all for $2.49, then hmmm, pretty nice package. We'll see - maybe I can stretch to $51.

I grabbed Skyrim and The Witcher 2 at 50% and 60% off, respectively. Great deals and I doubt they will get any cheaper before the sale ends.

By the way, for anyone getting Witcher 2 in the Steam sale, you can then head over to GOG.com and enter the CD key to obtain a free copy downloadable from them as well. Reason being that the GOG version comes with a bucketload of extras, maps, soundtrack and such, plus you can plkay it offline with no Steam access. It's totally kosher to do this - they're the makers of the game and apparently like to reward buyers, no matter where they purchased it.

The same goes for Witcher #1 - they give a free offline-valid copy of that if you just enter your CD key, and it also comes with all the extras.

I just noticed they have GTA IV for $9.99, and L.A. Noire for the same price.

Add in Skyrim for $39.99, and this could get kind of expensive. But OMG those all look good.
I think those are all sales that end on july 22nd. You should wait until then to buy, because they are likely to go on sale for lower in the next 10 days.

Yep, good advice and I'm going to take it. Thanks!

But damn those are good deals.

Papua New Guinea charges 29 alleged cannibals.

Well, penis soup is one thing, but raw brains is quite another. The 29 people charged all ate the raw brains of 7 Papua New Guinean witchdoctors they killed over the past month, putting them at severe risk of the following:

Kuru - a neurodegenerative disease found among people from New Guinea who practiced a form of cannibalism in which they ate the brains of dead people as part of a funeral ritual. This practice stopped in 1960, but cases of kuru were reported for many years afterward because the disease has a long incubation period. The signs of kuru include paralysis, blindness and madness, and it is always terminal.

A very nasty disease, with a very long incubation. If the Australian police don't bring them to justice, nature almost certainly will.

Anyone think Skyrim will go below $39.99? Been looking forward to it for ages but not at $59.99. It's already 33% off.

I've actually enjoyed the hell out of the clone wars cartoons. It's amazing how enjoyable SW is with minimal Lucas involvement...

You like stuff with childish stuff in it? okay.

I have a horrible feeling they'll cast Tom Cruise in the lead role. And use the story from DX2, lol.

A bunch of my buddies from LOTRO guild tried the beta for this and they all had a really good time. They had a lot of good things to say about it.

Buzz seems pretty positive, it's just a question of how many players they can pull away from other MMOs.

LOTRO is by the same developer, has a very active update schedule (Isengard last year, Rohan this year), a really nice playerbase, and a new high-resolution client. And trying it is free - I went back to it a couple of months ago, and so far have not paid any monthly fees at all.

If the graphics of DDO are not up to par for you, LOTRO should pretty much set you up. Then again, note my forum name, and the army of orcs and goblins that bend to my every whim. Mwahaha.

Nah, I'm kidding, it's really that good.

A whole site dedicated to telling me that fantasy boobs aren't realistic.

Do they get paid for that? I could do that

An excellent concept, and academically sound.

A PhD thesis on fake boobs needs to be written. And illustrated. IN HIGH DEFINITION!

We had our AC recharged last week and it's helped, and had the insulation done last Fall. However, we've also been really careful this year to install solid shades behind the regular ones in all south-facing windows. They are not expensive, and it has made a huge difference.

Keeping the sun out makes sure the house stays cool, reducing the load for the AC and the electric bill. Very recommended.

10 Video Games That Should Have Sequels.

Man, a sequel to Grim Fandango would be awesome. Are you listening, Tim Schaefer?

Strangely, it was Grim Fandango and not Quake 2 that convinced me to go out and get a real video card (Voodoo Banshee with whopping 16MB RAM!).

People keep asking for it, and I keep thinking it would be such a bad idea. The story was tied up well, and everything in the universe was basically there for the sake of Manny's plot. It feels like asking for a sequel to Casablanca or Gone With the Wind. What can anyone possibly expect out of it other than the worst kind of cash-in?

Well, Grim Fandango is all about the transition from life to death, but in a lot of cultures it's not a journey, it's a cycle. A sequel could explore the route from death to life.

If you complete the story successfully, Manny ends up as a baby in Mexico.

And his big-dog undead buddy gets reborn as a chihuahua.

Damn. I'm very sorry to hear that, Cutter. I truly hope things get better.

Yeah, me too. He's a great guy but the cancer just doesn't want to seem to let him go Everytime we think we've got it licked something else crops up. It makes me angry more than anything else.

A friend of ours was diagnosed with cancer in her 30's and it turned out she has a genetic predisposition.

It helps her only a little since she is now already screened very regularly as a cancer survivor. However, they also checked for the mutation in her kids, which could end up saving their lives.
