But then again, in the old days the team would have stepped up. O'Neill, Posada, Martinez, Brosius, Wells. Hell, even Clemens, as much as I hate him. They were really tough, and they never quit. |

| I can't really see myself playing this, although it does look intriguing. If I want big PvP firefights I'll probably just try WvWvW in GW2. |

Creston wrote on Oct 19, 2012, 00:44: Once Jeter went out, though, it was easy to see the Yanks going down in flames. He, Ichiro and Ibanez were the only ones who were hitting. Btw, Cano went like 2 for 90, and nobody complains about him. It's all A-Rod's fault again...
Creston Yeah, I'm in NYC and a Yankees fan, but the performance of the hitters this postseason (aside from Jeter, Ichiro and Ibanez) was just horrible.
Thing is, people in this town expect their teams (and each other) to fight for what they want, scuffle for it. They hate it when that doesn't happen. Folks that give up get labeled as soft, lacking the guts to get things done. That's why Jeter walked off the field on a broken ankle, showing the fans he was tough enough to take it.
Alex Rodriguez? Gutless wonder, officially stamped as such by the NYC public. Plus he was flirting with girls while letting the fans down. No way they'll have him back - the bleachers will heckle him every single game, for the entire game. That's just the way they are.

Regarding the takeover ads, I was in Europe on a work trip last week and the ads for this site over there are completely different (and in different languages).
One prominent ad was for a dating site, in German, with stereotypical half-naked muscular Herr and blond almost-nekkid teutonic Fraulein. Top of the page and the right hand side banner. Superimposing those images onto the Bluesnews geekfest was pretty bizarre. I should have taken a picture.
Then again, I was in France when I saw that one. Those frenchies, eh. Shocking. |

If you can remember how, let me know!
In the meantime, my Guardian will be rolling through GW2 zones like a Sherman tank. That class sure is overpowered. Scroll down to the part about user.cfg. I think that's it' but it's been awhile. That also shows how to turn off weapon degradation, which always annoyed the fuck out of me.
Great, thanks nin!
Speaking of spiritual successors to System Shock, I'm thinking Dishonored looks like a convergence of SS2, Thief and Deus Ex. Saw some gameplay vids today and boy does it look good. Think I'll have to get it, then play it when the kids and Mrs. Sauron are asleep. |

Not playing SS2 much since I'm addicted to GW2. Just hit level 23 on my main but I also have a few alts - and yes I know I level slow. |

I'm having a wonderful time in GW2, ran a dungeon for the first time last night - the Font of Rhand. The pickup group I was with all turned out to be MMO vets so it went very smoothly, and I really had a lot of fun.
Best of all, the group came together organically as the result of a chain of world events - the dungeon only opens when the chain is completed. Folks came spontaneously for the events and stayed for the dungeon, and completing the final boss was really very satisfying.
The events took about half an hour and the dungeon another hour, with no waiting around looking for a group. Fun, efficient gaming - that's how it should be done. Very impressed. |

That review of Riders of Rohan is very impressive. I'm only playing GW2 right now but the rest of my guild has jumped back to LOTRO for the Rohan expansion, and they are having a REALLY good time. They keep telling me how fun it is on Teamspeak (the main guild channel covers both games).
Sounds like Turbine delivered the goods. |

These kittens?
Exactly those.

Of course the game is getting rave reviews. It's exactly the type of game that does so: one that pays lip service to classic games while still making the game, ahem, streamlined enough for journalists to understand and finish it. Deus Ex: HR being a recent example.
Now that I'm over 40 with kids, I see nothing wrong with that. However, being over 40 with kids means I'm not going to pay $60 for it either. Putting it on my buy-a-year-from-now-after-I-finish-Skyrim-and-BL2-and-Black-Mesa-and-DE:HR list. ^You and me both. Even undead sorcerers get old and have kids. And those little orcs sure are expensive. |

I'm having waaaaaaaaaay too much playing GW2 to try anything else right now, and had honestly forgotten about this title. Plus, uh, Harvey Smith. But when Metacritic and (especially) Kotaku both light up like this, you have to at least take notice. Sounds like it's pretty great. |
